Located about a two-minute walk from Shukugawa Station, this bakery is beloved by locals. They make their bread with domestic wheat flour and natural yeast and let it leaven overnight at low temperature, creating fluffy bread with a rich taste. In addition to crunchy, harder varieties of bread, there are also croissants, bagels, sandwiches, and many other types of bread available. The shop is constantly adding new items to its repertoire, such as breads made with seasonal vegetables and fruits. There’s an open kitchen in the shop interior, allowing visitors to observe the baking process firsthand.

This confectionery is on the ground floor of the “Sorio Takarazuka” commercial facility in front of Hankyu Takarazuka Station. The famous confection “Maiden Rice Cakes” was created here in 1926, and it is made by steaming rice powder and millet flour with sugar in a pot and topping the resulting cake with soy powder. It gained popularity due to its simple yet elegant taste, which embodies the Takarazuka ideals of “pure, proper, and beautiful.” The name comes from Otome Amatsu, a Takarazuka star at the time. In addition to loyal local customers, it is also enjoyed by Takarazuka performers and other entertainers.

Hyogo Areas

around-area-map

Hyogo prefecture stretches from the north coast to the south coast on the western end of the popular Kansai region, encompassing verdant mountains, urban beaches, and fantastic historical sights. The prefecture’s main attractions lie along the south coast at Kobe, the prefectural capital, a pretty harbor city best known for its production of the renowned Kobe beef, and Himeji, the home of Himeji Castle, one of the country’s most beautifully preserved feudal castles, perched magically atop a hill.
