    Shizuoka Atami-shi Izusan 708-2
"This resource museum is located in the precinct of Izusan Shrine, known as a shrine connecting Minamoto no Yoritomo and Hojo Masako. On the first anniversary of Yoritomo's death, Hojo Masako shaved off her own hair and embroidered it on the ""Tohatsu Mandala"" (reproduction is on display), which was dedicated as the main deity of the Hokkedo of the Izusan Gongen. The ""Hashiriyu Gongen Standing Statue"", the ""Hokan Amida Nyorai Statue"", and many other resources which are extremely important for learning about the worship at Izusan Shrine at the time are on display. The ""Tohatsu Mandala"" is also recorded by name in the ""Azumakagami"", a historical book compiled by the Kamakura Shogunate."

    伊豆山神社の境内にある資料館です。あまり大きくはありませんが、伊豆大権現の扁額や龍神の彫刻、権現様の立像などがあり、案外楽しめました。

    Shizuoka Ito-shi Yawatano 1156

    村の古地図や、地元の民家から集めた写真、陶器ほか見栄えがします。また昭和のレトロなガラクタもあり、なるほどとは思いまさしが、何が面白いかは分からなかった。

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
