- Fukui Pref. Mikatakaminakagunwakasachou Mikata 52-6
- This restaurant keeps high-quality eels in underground water from Mt. Kirara, located behind the restaurant, and takes pride in cooking them Kansai-style (on charcoal without steaming). Original hone sembei (crackers made from eel bones) and eel rice bowls are popular as take-home gifts. Reservations are required for dinner (17:00-19:30).

美味しいうなぎをいただきました。とってもふっくらしています。骨煎餅も進みます。お店も小綺麗で好感が持てます。空いていたのはそもそもこの辺に人がいないからかもしれません。三方五湖に訪れた際はおすすめです。

- Fukui Mikatakaminakagun-gun Wakasacho Torihama 44-18
- A restaurant serving eel in Torihama, Wakasa Town, Mikatakaminaka County. They serve eel in a variety of styles including Unaju broiled eel over rice, Kabayaki eel dipped in sauce and then broiled, Hitsumabushi grilled eel over rice, and different course meals allowing you to fully enjoy the flavor of eel. When in season you can enjoy fresh eel straight from Lake Mikata but from December to March during the off season of eel fishing, they offer carp dishes reminiscent of Lake Mikata in the winter.

Fukui Areas
Northeast of Kyoto, the ancient Tojinbo Cliffs separate Fukui prefecture from the Sea of Japan in a stretch of land well worth exploring. Water sports and seaside delicacies are available in abundance as the spectacular rugged coastline flattens down into beaches to the west of the prefecture, while inland, Fukui is home to Zen Buddhist temples and historic ruins.
