An eel restaurant located close to Ueda Station in Tenjin, Ueda City. The restaurant serves unaju eel boxes, eel set meals, shirayaki plain broiled eel, eel rolls, and other eel dishes. The restaurant also offers a full selection of non-eel a la carte dishes, donburi rice bowls, and set meals, including a basashi horse meat set and an oyakodon chicken and egg over rice meal made with Ueda Shiodadaira chicken.

In terms of location its the best for sure as its so close to the train station. In terms of food quality, yes thats tasty but not something surprising. Id say there were better choices elsewhere...

"An eel restaurant located close to Lake Suwa's Kamaguchi Suimon sluice gate in Tenryu-cho, Okaya City. Instead of steaming, the restaurant broils its eel directly over high grade, ubame oak charcoal, serving unaju eel boxes, kabayaki sauce-dipped eel, shirayaki unseasoned eel, and eel set meals. The restaurant's ""Toku Ju,"" made with two whole eels, can be ordered with half the eel grilled plain shirayaki style (not available from July to August)."

"This popular restaurant in Suwa City, Nagano Prefecture specializes in eel cuisine. Tourists and locals alike love the exquisite kabayaki eel, grilled with their own method that keeps it soft. Their ""Kingin Ungagi-ju"" lets guests dine on eel both unseasoned and kabayaki style, and their kaiseki course cuisine with eel as its centerpiece is also popular. The shop's modern Japanese atmosphere will help you enjoy a laid-back meal."

Went here on a visit to Suwa. The eel came in a round bowl and was very delicious. I also tried some horse sashimi which tasted like very nice beef! Service was a bit ‘slow’ but we couldn’t speak...

    Nagano Matsumoto-shi Ote 4-9-1
A two-minute walk from the Marunouchi bus stop and a five-minute walk from Matsumoto Castle. This long-standing eel restaurant was established in 1920 and can be reached by leaving from Matsumoto Castle's Kuromon gate, walking down Daimyocho-dori Street, and taking a left at the second intersection. The restaurant serves Kansai-style kabayaki charcoal grilled, un-steamed eel with a secret recipe sauce. The restaurant's eel meat is not fatty or greasy, enabling diners to enjoy the true flavor of the ingredients used. The restaurant is dedicated to giving customers the chance to enjoy the flavor of traditional kabayaki inexpensively and in a casual environment. The restaurant's signature dish is its eel sasa-mushi - kabayaki grilled eel served with rice rolled up in a bamboo grass leaf. The restaurant also offers eel donburi rice bowls and eel combo meals; some of the restaurant's menu is also available for takeout.

We are just lucky our feet were brought to this restaurant, their Unagi is divine the best i have ever tasted. The location is also very near to the Matusmoto castle so its a quick walk from here...

An eel restaurant established in 1904. This popular establishment has served eel grilled over high grade ubame oak charcoal and slathered in a secret recipe sauce since the day it first opened its doors. Made according to an old fashioned method with soy sauce and mirin, the sauce's recipe has been handed down for generations and diners will be able to taste the tradition and dedication. The restaurant's basic menu consists of just unaju eel rice boxes and unadon eel rice bowls.

    丑の日に、行きました。幼少の頃からの、行きつけで、浜名屋が、一番美味いと思っています。関東風の蒸した鰻に、濃い目のタレで焼き上げており、サッパリかつしっかりとした味がご飯似合います。

Nagano Main Areas

around-area-map

Nagano prefecture is an exciting mix of mountains, hot spring monkeys, and preserved Edo history. At the heart of the Japanese Alps, Nagano is one of the country’s most popular destinations, whether in winter for its snow sports and the much-loved Jigokudani Monkey Park or in the warmer months for discovering the undulating hills on foot. For fantastic Edo architecture, head to the Kiso Valley for a 60-kilometer stretch of quaint wooden buildings that marked the Nakasendo route 200 years ago.
