This art photo gallery opened in 1989 in a partially remodeled private home. The gallery has a remodeled tearoom, and one area is a shop now, where they sell photo books, calendars, picture postcards, t-shirts, and other items. The tearoom has a variety of drinks like coffee, as well as light meals, so you can enjoy the photos while you sip.

A souvenir shop on the second floor of Daikanbo Station on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. Particularly popular is the Nigorizake Maboroshi no Sake Daikanbo, a raw sake created by finely breaking up the steamed rice in the moromi (fermenting mash) and koji (malted rice) and filtering this through coarse cloth. Another popular product is the Konnyaku Teppozuke Daikanbo, burdock pickled in kon'nyaku (devil's tongue jelly).

We recommend the Kurobe plain original Karami Kojizuke, which brings out the natural richness of koji mold, or the Kurobedaira Station-only Hotaruika no suboshi dried firefly squid. The white station building's location, on a plateau 1,828 meters high, is perfect to enjoy the majestic scenery, and outside you'll find the Kurobedaira Park.

Toyama Nakaniikawa-gun Tateyamamachi Ashikuraji Senjugahara 2 Tateyama Sta. 2F
The Tateyama Kurobe Alpen Route starts on the Toyama side, and ends at Tateyama Station in Nagano. There is a shop on the second floor of that sells Tateyama Yuki (mizumanju buns), which can only be bought at Tateyama Station and Bijodaira Station. These gently sweet dumplings use a cool jellylike wrapped around a ball of sweet bean paste. These popular products are excellent memories of Tateyama's history.

Toyama Areas

around-area-map

Toyama is one of the three prefectures that house the Japanese Alps, with its southern and eastern borders comprising one long stretch of mountains, out of which the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is forged. While traditional crafts fill the northern coastal cities of Toyama and Takaoka, thatched roof houses offer unrivalled views against a backdrop of fantastic scenery at Gokayama in the mountainous area in the south of the prefecture.
