Kurochaya is a charming restaurant set in the main house of the Shoya Residence built 250 years ago relocated to the Akigawa Gorge. Visitors can enjoy a course menu of Tokyo’s sole beef brand, Kuroge Wagyu beef, and freshwater fish alongside the Akigawa Gorge. The popular restaurant has an atmosphere of the history and lifestyle of the mountain hamlet and also has rooms where guests can enjoy the cuisine while overlooking a bamboo forest. For reservations of ten people or more, a pick-up service is available.

Average costs 10,000yen per person if you like to enjoy famous beef steak. Very traditional plate settings and beautiful Japanese decoration with small plates for each cuisine. I recommend choosing...

Kamameshi Nakai, sitting in the mountains of Okutama, is a relaxed restaurant surrounded by nature. All the kamameshi (rice dish served in a pot) dishes served here are delicious but their bamboo shoot kamameshi and chestnut kamameshi served only in season are particularly popular. Their salt-grilled river fish, such as rock fish, ayu (sweetfish) and trout are not to be missed either.

Tokyo Areas

around-area-map

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
