    A large park with an abundance of natural areas sprawling on the shore of Lake Kasumigaura. Facilities include a large playground, pool, aquatic plant garden, and rest house, and the park is particularly popular with families. The Dutch windmill which serves as a symbol of the park was erected to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Tsuchiura City; there's an observatory located halfway up the windmill's tower.

    A municipal park located in Jochu-cho, Ushiku City where visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers. 8,000 square meters in size, some 20 thousand iris plants consisting of around 200 different varieties, such as Japanese and rabbitear irises, grow on the park’s grounds. From early to late June each year, the park fills with beautiful purple, white, and yellow blossoms. The park is equipped with easily walkable paths and viewing platforms. A lovely row of cherry trees standing along the banks of the Inari River bloom in spring, while red spider lilies blossom in September.

    A vehicle-themed park located in Azuma, Tsukuba City where visitors can have fun while learning about traffic rules. The park is designed like a little city, including a brick station building modeled after Amsterdam Station in the Netherlands, small crosswalks, and traffic lights. There's also a D-51 steam locomotive on display which was completed in September 1937 and which operated until 1975, making the park a popular destination not only for families but train fans as well.

    This training facility for racehorses is located in Mikoma, Miho Village, Inashiki County. As a focal point for the JRA (Japan Central Racing Association) in eastern Japan, many thoroughbred horses are trained here every day. On the 4th floor of the Public Information Center, the Turf Plaza, is open on Central horseracing days, (usually weekends) and public holidays on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Visitors can see the Southern Race Track and stables, as well as the G1 prize-winning panels belonging to Miho, their replica numbers and so on. There is also the possibility of seeing horses while they are training, depending on the season and time of day.

    A strawberry farm situated along Prefectural Route 150 commanding a view of Mt. Tsukuba to the west. The farm grows some 20 thousand strawberry plants spread among 60-meter long 42 rows inside a giant greenhouse. The farm's strawberries span six varieties, including Tochiotome, Benihoppe, and Ibara Kiss. Visitors can enjoy 60 minute all-you-can-eat strawberry picking from January to May. The strawberries are grown using raised platforms, ensuring visitors don't need to worry about getting dirty; the farm also accommodates wheelchair users. In addition, the farm has moist towelettes and children's aprons, making it easy for parents to enjoy strawberry picking even with small children. Lastly, visitors can purchase strawberries to take home at the adjoining Yurinosato local specialty products shop.

    A nature park located on the eastern end of the Tsukuba Mountain Range in Suigo-Tsukuba Quasi-National Park. There are ponds and a wood deck in the park. Children can see nature up close, such as watching ducks and other visiting migratory birds from the provided observation room on Torinoike Pond. A hiking course leads up Mt. Yukiiri, and visitors can take in the area's seasonal beauty with forest walks and light trekking. The observatory in the center of the park provides a view of Lake Kasumigaura and the Ushiku Great Buddha. There's also a nature center which provides information on the park through exhibits such as a theater and a diorama of the forest on Mt. Yukiiri.

    雪入公園の駐車場に車を停めて、管理事務所のネイチャーセンターにトレッキングコースの地図を貰いに行って、2時間弱のトレッキングを楽しみました。 里山の景色と空気を吸って、とても良い1日を過ごしました。

    An outdoor activity facility situated in front of Tsukubasan-jinja Shrine in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Tsukuba is one of the facility's most thrilling attractions. Sweet Japanese pears, grapes, Japanese chestnuts, and persimmons are grown organically on the farm's spacious 50 thousand square meter grounds, and visitors can enjoy the tastes of fall. The farm grows Kosui, Hosui, and Nitaka Japanese pears from around August 10 to September 30. The farm grows huge Kyoho grapes from August 20 to September 28. Chestnuts are grown from early September to mid-October, and persimmons from mid-October to late November. The farm offers all-you-can-eat Japanese pears, grapes, and persimmons. There's also a farm-fresh shop and visitors can enjoy fruit picking with their pets, as well.

    A lush park whose vast grounds are covered in trees located a 10-minute drive from the Yatabe Interchange. The park is divided into six areas - a seasonal forest zone, fun forest zone, cherry tree forest zone, wild bird forest zone, waterside forest zone, and family friendly square. Seasonal trees and plants bloom in each of the areas, and many visitors are attracted to the park during peak sightseeing seasons. In spring, there's a tunnel of double-flowered cherries and weeping cherries; in autumn, Japanese maples color the grounds. The park provides many opportunities for coming in contact with nature and visitors can also view plants and animals like the many wild birds and water lilies found in the wild bird forest and waterside forest areas.
