This park is filled with outdoor activities for children including a field athletic course suspended through the trees, and a small animal petting zoo. Families can try their hand at cooking and craft making, from any of the extensive workshops. On site is a restaurant, a hall, and barbecue facilities where homemade sausage, and the park’s original pizza can be enjoyed.

    A large park with an abundance of natural areas sprawling on the shore of Lake Kasumigaura. Facilities include a large playground, pool, aquatic plant garden, and rest house, and the park is particularly popular with families. The Dutch windmill which serves as a symbol of the park was erected to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Tsuchiura City; there's an observatory located halfway up the windmill's tower.

    An aquarium facing the north side of Lake Kasumigaura, the second largest lake in Japan. The aquarium displays freshwater fish from Kasumigaura, over 1,000 saltwater fish spanning 130 species from around the world, and reptiles. The aquarium's diverse facilities include a panoramic tank where visitors can watch char and Japanese huchen swimming, and round tanks which make it possible to view the occupants from 360 degrees. The aquarium is designed to teach visitors who walk through it about the ecosystem of Kasumigaura. The aquarium also holds events like giving visitors the chance to feed tortoises. The aquarium is perfect for families with children as well.

    A local mixed-use complex named after the famous Heian period poet Ono no Komachi, said to have died in Tsuchiura's Ono district, a 30-minute drive from Tsuchiura Station on the JR Joban Line in Ibaraki Prefecture. Inside, visitors will find a local specialty products shop, tourist information corner, Komachi gallery, and educational hall. A soba noodle making class is offered in the activity hall for a small fee and there's also a rest area from which visitors can take in the vast, beautiful scenery of the area. The facility is also adjoined by a farm-fresh shop, cafe, and the Salon Komachi restaurant, which serves Hitachi Aki soba noodles.

    6月にホタルが見られると聞いたので夕方見に行きました。10匹以上見られ、幻想的でした。日によって数にばらつきがあるそうなのでラッキーだったようです。

The ""Uchu Tenboto"" tower offers a 360 panoramic view of the area."

The museum was opened to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Satoshi Ikezawa's career as a manga (comic) artist. Izekawa created ""The Circuit Wolf,"" a comic which caused an explosion of interest in supercars, and this museum was created based on the artist's desire to give children hope and dreams, and to contribute to the development of car culture. The museum displays supercars created by companies known even to non-car aficionados, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, BMW, and Porsche. In the museum's library, visitors can view a huge collection of car-related manga and magazines."

    A history museum adjoining Kijo Park (Tsuchiura Castle ruins) 10 minutes from the Tsuchiura-kita or Sakura-tsuchiura interchanges on the Joban Expressway. The first floor of the museum is dedicated to the culture of the Tsuchiya clan, the clan which once rules the area, and includes displays of swords and tea ceremony implements owned by the clan. The second floor looks at local life as it has been supported by Lake Kasumigaura and introduces the history and culture of Tsuchiura. The museum changes the contents of its exhibits on a seasonal basis and also holds special exhibitions. There's also an interactive learning space in the second-floor exhibition hall.

    A tourism-oriented fruit farm located close to the Chiyoda-ishioka interchange on the Joban Expressway. Sweet Japanese pears, grapes, Japanese chestnuts, and persimmons are grown organically on the farm's spacious 50 thousand square meter grounds, and visitors can enjoy the tastes of fall. The farm grows Kosui, Hosui, and Nitaka Japanese pears from around August 10 to September 30. The farm grows huge Kyoho grapes from August 20 to September 28. Chestnuts are grown from early September to mid-October, and persimmons from mid-October to late November. The farm offers all-you-can-eat Japanese pears, grapes, and persimmons. There's also a farm-fresh shop and visitors can enjoy fruit picking with their pets, as well.

    A facility dedicated to presenting local charms located near Ibaraki Airport. Soranoeki Sol La La carries a wide variety of specialty products from the area around the city of Omitama. There’s a buffet-style restaurant serving dishes made with ingredients from Omitama as well as a shop selling local foodstuffs. The lactic acid food production plant on the facility’s grounds makes dairy products with milk from local farms and sells fresh yogurt. The Challenge Shop offers light meals created by local farmers filled with experimental, creative ideas; a different “shop” operates out of the space daily, providing a variety of menu options.

    A tourism-oriented park where you can pick fresh fruit. Grapes, pear, chestnuts, persimmons, and other fruits are grown on the farm. You can also dig up sweet potatoes here. Unusual for a fruit-picking farm, there are no time limits, and you are allowed to bring your own food onto the premises as well. And of course you can eat all that you pick. Depending on the season, you can pay an extra fee to pick multiple varieties of fruits. The farm’s shop sells fruit for taking home as a souvenir and can also provide shipping.

At Yakiimo Factory Museum made by utilizing a former school building, you can learn about sweet potatoes and baked potatoes. It also holds a hands-on class for making sweet potato. You can also have your own farm, and both families and couples can enjoy the whole day at a restaurant that uses local vegetables and a facility which you can catch crayfish.

    I went there without high expectations but liked the overall experience. this place used to be an elementary school that closed down and now the building is used as a sweet potato farm and factory...

    This soccer stadium is located a two-minute walk from Kashima Soccer Stadium Station on the Oarai Kashima Line. Built in 1993 as Japan's first fully-fledged dedicated soccer stadium, the facility is used as the home stadium of the J1 League Kashima Antlers. Sprinklers, underground heating, and other methods are used to maintain the condition of the stadium's natural grass field, and, during the 2002 FIFA World Cup, the stadium's characteristics were utilized for world-class play.
