Roadside Station in Shinhidaka Town, Hidaka County, Hokkaido. Visit the shops as you enjoy the beach and swim in the ocean in Mitsuishi-Kaihin Park. Campervans are also permitted, just see the reception desk in the Roadside Station. The facility also has coin operated showers and laundry facilities, as well as shops where you can purchase souvenir seafood.

バンガローのあるオートキャンプ場や温泉施設も併設する道の駅で、海に面しているのでロケーションが良いです。漁協直営の特産品販売センターでは、日高産の昆布やツブ貝などが並んでいましたが種類・品数は少なめでした。ホットドッグをテイクアウトしましたが、テラス席やベンチがないので困りましまございません。

The roadside station is on National Route 5 in Kuromatsunai Town, Suttsu County, Hokkaido. It has a bakery on site, which makes over 60 types of bread using 100% Hokkaido grown wheat. They also have a pizza restaurant, Pizza Do, where pizza artists bake yours to order, making it a hit with tourists and locals alike.

札幌と函館のほぼ中間地点にある道の駅。洒落た欧風調の建物でした。ここはピザとパンが売りのようで焼きたてのピザを食べてる人を多々見かけました。パンもほぼ売り切れてて少しだけ残ってた調理パンを購入。今日の宿で夜食でいただくことにしました。近隣の道の駅とは少々毛色が異なりチーズ・ワインの販売や四国の姉妹都市の品が販売されてました。観光客のみならず地元民の憩いの場となってるような道の駅でした。

ボクサーの内藤選手の出身地にある道の駅。規模は小さめですが農産物や総菜・弁当も販売されてました。地元で採れたホタテの稚貝が安価で販売されており購入してる人を見かけました。洞爺湖にも近いのでひと息入れるのに丁度よい道の駅だと思います。

A roadside station built with asunaro cypress located in Assabu Town. The station sells May Queen potatoes, a variety which became a local specialty product in Assabu in 1925, as well as asparagus, corn, and other fresh vegetables; black soybean tea; potato shochu, and other foods and drinks. Live music performances and other events are held in the spacious rest area and you can also buy a popular soft serve ice cream here as well as drinks and snacks, croquettes, and other tasty treats made with May Queen potatoes.

日本海側の八雲から渡島半島を縦断した最中、休憩に最適なスポットでした。メークインの故郷だそうで、ほかにも地元の農産物が所狭しと並べられていて、買い物客で混雑していました。

A roadside station in Yoichi Town where you can experience the wonders of space. The Yoichi Space Museum Space Dome is located on the grounds of the station. The museum presents the achievements of Japan's first astronaut, Mamoru Mohri. In the dome theater, you can see videos taken by NASA. There's also a digital planetarium and museum shop selling over 10 varieties of space food. You can also find gelato and other foods made with apples, a local specialty product.

A roadside station located in Shiriuchi Town where a Paleolithic grave site, the oldest in Japan, was discovered. The site is now a National Important Cultural Property. In the local specialty products shop, you can buy garlic chives, tomatoes, shiitake mushrooms, and other vegetables grown in Shiriuchi Town, as well as marine products like cuttlefish salted and dried overnight. Shiriuchi Town is also the birthplace of the famous enka folk singer Saburo Kitajima and you can find merchandise featuring the artists here as well. Staff in the tourist information center inside the shop can provide you with information about the town and give you tourism pamphlets.

松前町から国道２２８号線を函館を目指して走りました。北海道最南端の白神岬を過ぎ、福島町の市街地を過ぎると、山間部を通っていきます。知内町の市街地まであと数ｋｍほどのところに、こちらの道の駅がありました。道の駅自体はあまり特徴がない小さな道の駅なんですが、すぐとなりに「新幹線展望塔」があり、青函トンネルを抜けて北海道に上陸した直後の新幹線が見られる場所でした。
