Roadside Station Aputa (道の駅 あぷた)

4.0

Michi no Eki Road Station

Roadside station on National Route 37 by Toyako Town, Abuta County, Hokkaido. This roadside station is also a scallop processing facility where you can try scallop curry and scallop croquettes. Their fresh uni-don (sea urchin on rice) is also incredibly popular. The facility is situated on a hill with the rest area overlooking Uchiura Bay.

We found this restaurant in TripAdvisor on the way to lake toya. Wow it was really fresh uni and really cheap. One set of uni don at 1500 yen. U will never find anywhere cheaper with this freshness...

Good urchin with reasonable price, staff are nice too. Scene is terrific. Good to have lunch break there.

Read about this shop on TripAdvisor and it was great. We got there before 2 so could orders the uni rice.

We ordered the big serve to share and it came with 2 trays of uni for only ¥3,500 so cheap...

Not just a prefecture but an island of its own, Hokkaido is the most northerly prefecture and island of the Japanese archipelago. Arriving in Hokkaido, which is rural and bursting with breathtaking nature, means entering a world where vast national parks, towering mountains, and natural hot springs can be found at every turn. Come December, these natural splendors freeze over and morph into a winter wonderland.
