Michi no Eki Road Station

A roadside station built with asunaro cypress located in Assabu Town. The station sells May Queen potatoes, a variety which became a local specialty product in Assabu in 1925, as well as asparagus, corn, and other fresh vegetables; black soybean tea; potato shochu, and other foods and drinks. Live music performances and other events are held in the spacious rest area and you can also buy a popular soft serve ice cream here as well as drinks and snacks, croquettes, and other tasty treats made with May Queen potatoes.

江差と函館とを繋ぐ国道上にある道の駅で、付近にあまり休憩に適したスポットがないこともあってか、私は平日の夕刻の訪問でしたが、結構混雑していました。

ここは物産を売る販売ブースが広い一方で、休憩に適した屋内ブースは売店の前にテレビと数組のテーブルと椅子が設置された箇所しかなく、私の訪問時も、皆さん相席で窮屈そうに過ごされていました。物産品の選択肢は多くて、厚沢部町名物のメークインやその関連商品など...

地元野菜が売っていて、メークイン発祥の地らしく、その場で食べられるコロッケを購入。
とても美味しかったです。
おにぎりも人気らしいのですが、前に並んでいた方が残りの3個を購入してしまい、食べる事は出来ませんでした。
