Saga Pref. Ureshinoshi Ureshinomachiwayagawachi No. 3537
A green tea processing factory situated along National Route 34 in Iwayagawachi, Ureshino-machi, Ureshino City. Surrounded by tea fields, inside visitors can see how tea is made. Visitors can also sample the factory's teas and purchase freshly- made tea leaves at reasonable prices in the factory's shop.

Stopped by a green tea factory and shop in Ureshino Ochachamura at Saga Prefecture in way to Nagasaki. Tasted various green tea and bought cold green tea bags. Very nice and fragrant to drink cold.

Saga Ureshino-shi Ureshinomachi Shimojuku Otsu 2199
A tea shop in Ureshino Onsen. The long-established Ureshino tea store was founded over 100 years ago. They run their own plantation and do everything from picking to processing themselves. They produce carefully selected Ureshino tea and supply the delicious product at local prices nationwide. The shop's shelves are lined with local tea, and there's an eating area, too. You can also enjoy tea as a set with sweets like gelato.

Saga Ureshino-shi Ureshinomachi Shimojuku Otsu 608-2
One of the oldest confectionery shops in Ureshino and operating since the Meiji period, it's been in business at the west end of the shopping street for about 80 years. Their case is full of whimsically named sweets with various Japanese plays on words. They focus on moist baked sweets and have lots of sweets with Ureshino or black tea worked into the dough.

Saga Ureshino-shi Ureshinomachi Shimojuku Ko 4002-1
A shop that brings the pleasures of tea to daily life. Without additives or preservatives, its products feature the fine aftertaste inherent in tea. It is also nice that they have about 7 kinds of tea available for takeout, such as steamed green tea, black tea, and mint hojicha. You can get each variety hot or iced.

Saga Areas

around-area-map

Away from the fast-paced cities of mainland Japan, Kyushu’s Saga prefecture offers quaint towns and cities known for their traditional crafts, particularly ceramics. Rich in kaolin (a type of clay), Saga became the homeland of Arita ware, a delicate, decorative porcelain that is now celebrated worldwide and can be discovered in the towns of Arita, Imari, and Karatsu.
