This miso soup specialty shop is in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City. Established 1932, they make amazing dashi broth from ingredients like bonito and kelp, giving it a deep and delectable flavor. Choose from white miso, red miso, mixed miso, and sumashijiru clear soups. Set meals with side dishes to accompany the miso soup such as seasonal vegetables and fish are popular, as is their rikyu bento box.

A Japanese restaurant in the station building at Kyoto Station. We recommend their monthly changing Hashitate Don rice bowl which combines seafood and wild vegetables from the Tango region along with homemade vegetables pickled in miso. During the evening you can enjoy a hot pot meal. They also sell popular souvenirs including Sea bream sushi with miso and sesame paste.

I did not have a lot of time to explore for my dinner before my Shinkansen trip back to Tokyo. But, here this restaurant is at really convenient place, 3rd foot of building in front of exit of JR...

They offer four different tempura meals and three different chef's choice meals and reservations are required so please contact them before visiting.

This is a kamameshi (rice, meat and vegetable dish served in a small pot) restaurant in a backstreet of Shijo-Kawaramachi, around a five-minute walk from Hankyu Kawaramachi Station. Established in 1945, the place has a coziness that stirs feelings of nostalgia. The menu features traditional Kyoto home cooking including ebi-imo (shrimp-shaped taro) and sanzokuyaki (fried chicken). The set menu is kamameshi, which is cooked in a ceramic pot after the order is received. The popular “Tori-Kamameshi” is fluffy rice cooked in their inherited traditional dashi soup stock then mixed with chicken fat to bring out its rich flavor.

四条河原町から至近なのに喧騒がまるでない落ち着く小料理屋。ご主人と女将さんとお姉さんの3人で切り盛りしているが店がこじんまりしているのでオーダーも料理がでてくるのもスムース。お酒も美味しい。少人数でゆっくり話したい時にお勧めの店。

This Japanese restaurant is located on the 11th floor of the Kyoto Station Building Specialty Mall (The CUBE) in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City. Its guests dine on Kyoto's traditional obanzai (home cooking) made with locally grown vegetables. At lunchtime there is an all-you-can-eat obanzai set menu that's popular with the locals and tourists who come to enjoy Kyoto.

Had a quick dinner here on way back to Osaka. Very poor food and for non-Japanese tourists the staff were not very helpful in terms of how to prepare the food served at the table.
