The nearest station is Ueda Station.

    過去に真田太平記を読みましたが、今でも棚から真田太平記を手に取るほど大好きな長編小説です。ここでは、小説に沿って映像や資料などを展示しています。館内は撮影禁止で残念ですが、思い出に残る場所でした。

This memorial hall is located along the Japanische Romantische Strabe in Oiwake, Karuizawa and is dedicated to author Tatsuo Hori. Known for titles such as “The Wind Has Risen,” many of his novels are set in Karuizawa. By the time he died in 1944, he had spent about nine years in Oiwake. The many manuscripts and letters offer a window into his literary style and life.

    森の中で静かに物思いにふける。軽井沢で過ごしたいイメージの一つですが、意外とそれを叶えてくれる場所はありません。そんな時はここへ。夏でも人が少なく、オススメです。

    Nagano Saku-shi Taguchi 3112
A 20-minute drive from the Saku-minami Interchange. This memorial art museum is located next to Goryokaku Park right next to Tatsuoka Castle Ruins and displays the works of Gozo Kawamura, a sculptor who was born in 1884 in what is now Usuda, Saku City. Visitors can view Kawamura's works from a variety of periods in his career, including before and after he traveled to the United States and when he served as the top art advisor at Yokosuka Base. Sculptures such as his terracotta figure of his friend bacteriologist Hideyo Noguchi and a bust of GHQ Diplomatic Director George Atcheson, Jr. hint at the historical context in which the artist lived. Those who would like to receive a guided tour are encouraged to contact the museum in advance.

    一部では牛の彫刻で有名な川村吾蔵。冬季には1週間に一人くらいしか来館者が無いらしい。臼田町が接地した博物館。他人事だが採算が心配だ。五稜郭のついでに是非立ち寄ってやってください。

"Saku Municipal Tenrai Museum is located about a seven-minute walk from the Mochizuki bus stop. Built in the style of a traditional warehouse, Japan's first art museum devoted to calligraphy and a memorial to the Meiji Period calligrapher Hidai Tenrai is near the remains of the Mochizuki clan's troop lodgings and the Mochizuki History and Folklore Museum. Some of Tenrai's finest works are on display. He rediscovered old calligraphy manuals and is known as ""the father of modern calligraphy."" In addition to his works, visitors can also see related materials, such as the actual implements he used, and the calligraphic works of his wife and pupils."

    書道家の比田井天来の業績をたたえた記念館らしいけど、書道に興味がないので書道に造詣の深い義兄を案内がてら訪問しました。遠方から来られた方は記念碑のある公園と生家も尋ねられることをお勧めします。

Nagano Areas

around-area-map

Nagano prefecture is an exciting mix of mountains, hot spring monkeys, and preserved Edo history. At the heart of the Japanese Alps, Nagano is one of the country’s most popular destinations, whether in winter for its snow sports and the much-loved Jigokudani Monkey Park or in the warmer months for discovering the undulating hills on foot. For fantastic Edo architecture, head to the Kiso Valley for a 60-kilometer stretch of quaint wooden buildings that marked the Nakasendo route 200 years ago.
