    Shizuoka Pref. Itoushi Yukawa 2-11-5
This is a memorial museum for Mokutaro Kinoshita, who was born in Ito City’s Yukawa and was active in a wide variety of fields including medicine, literature, poetry, and art. The mud-walled construction of the building, which is characteristic for its Namako-kabe walls (walls covered with square tiles jointed with raised plaster) is a restoration of the home in which Mokutaro was born. In addition to displaying the first editions of Mokutaro’s poetry and plays, paintings, and notes that he wrote as a student, visitors can also catch a glimpse at life in his day through the daily implements from people in his birthplace as well as the Ota house. It is approximately five minutes on foot from Ito Station.

Shizuoka Shizuoka-shi Shimizu-ku Yui 297-1 Yui Honjin Park
"This is a Memorial Hall within ""Yui Honjin Park"" located in the center of Yui. In an area of Yui-shuku, the 16th post town counting from Nihonbashi, the separated room in which Emperor Meiji took a brief repose is recreated. In the traditionally Japanese-style construction, there is a kitchen and a tea room ""Yuijinsai"", so you can relax in this place removed from daily commotion. If you make a reservation one month or more in advance, you can have powdered green tea in a tasteful and elegant tea room (separate fee). On the north side, there is a garden said to be made by Kobori Enshu."

Chohachi was active from the late Edo period to the Meiji period, and was a leading artist for plaster reliefs, which involved creating pictures with plaster and a trowel.

The Ikeda Masuo Commemorative Museum usually has on display around 60 works by Ikeda Masuo, the world-renowned artist, author and filmmaker. The building itself is visually striking, with its yellow and brown exterior walls. The works on display, which include ceramics, woodblock prints, bronzes, etc., mostly have a connection with Atami. Adjacent to the Museum is the “Mitsuyo” workshop in which Mr. Ikeda used to work. Surrounded by the peaceful, beautiful natural scenery of Izu, visitors can enjoy the seasonal flowers and outdoor sculptures, etc.

    Shizuoka Atami-shi Baiencho Atami Umezono
"This is a memorial museum for Shinpei Nakayama, a composer during the Taisho period who left us with children's songs such as ""Teru Teru Bozu"", ""Kata Tataki"", and ""Shabondama"". His villa, which was originally in Nishiyama-cho, Atami City, was transferred to within a plum garden and opened to the public. Featuring a relaxed, wooden construction, this villa was the place Shinpei Nakayama spent his days after moving to Atami until the day he died in 1952. Surrounded by a serene Japanese-style garden, the building interior displays precious items of Mr. Nakayama, including the piano he used for composing, sheet music he wrote, and records from the time."

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
