The open terrace also has a large number of seats. Bread is made with carefully selected ingredients and appears from the oven in all sorts of fanciful shapes and flavors. The deliciously drawn out flavors and rich aroma is characteristic of the bread baked here. All day long, from morning through to dinner, you can enjoy wonderful food and tea. This souvenir shop is located at the entrance to Shiraito Falls. They sell a wide variety of souvenirs such as food items including pickles and jam from Karuizawa, folk crafts and picture postcards. Many tourists visit to rest or eat since there are food booths where you can have udon (white flour noodles) or soba (buckwheat noodles) and outdoor benches. Their popular menus are handmade tofu made from the spring water from Shiraito Falls and soybeans from Nagano Prefecture, and salt-grilled white-spotted char.

This long-established bakery located in Karuizawa Town, Kitasaku County, Nagano Prefecture was founded in 1933. They have adopted European-style traditional bread-making, and their French bread and German bread baked in a stone oven imported from Spain are well-regarded. Popular products include their Fruit Rye that features the fragrance of rum-soaked raisins and orange peel. In addition, they sell approximately 70 types of breads including the Chocolate Bread that is limited to Karuizawa. The shop features a space to eat inside.

We loved everything we tried here! It was our go-to breakfast during our two day stay in Karuizawa. I wish I could have brought some of it home!

Nagano Komoro-shi Tei 314

A three-minute walk from Komoro Station. This soba noodle restaurant is located close to the inner citadel in the center of Komoro Castle Park. The standard cold zaru soba noodles, which reflect the innate flavors of the ingredients used to make them, are particularly recommended. The large sized soba noodles are enough to feed two people. Weather hot or cold, the restaurants noodles come with edible wild plants, mushrooms, deep fried tofu, and grated yam; the restaurant's Daimyo Soba comes topped with all of these plus an egg. Other toppings include tempura and eggs. The summertime only perilla and plum soba noodles have Japanese ginger in them, giving them a refreshing flavor. During the cherry bossom viewing season, customers can enjoy a banquet with an advance reservation. Note that the restaurant closes when its supply of noodles for the day runs out.

城内にふさわしい感じの古いお蕎麦屋さんですが、ちょっと建物が古すぎるせいか、たてつけが良くないので食べるのにちょっと不安があるレベルです。お店というよりも古民家を流用している感じがします。肝心のそば自体は味も価格も普通という感じです。

妻が中毒に近く、軽井沢に行くたびに寄ります。駐車場のキャパは2台だけでテーブル席が一つとカウンター数名分という規模ですが、空いていれば我が家の大型犬（50キロ）も店内OKで、超高級車で来たゴールデンレトリバーにも会いました。味オンチ夫婦の感想ですが、どれでも美味しいので遅めの時間に行って、選択肢の減ったケーキを試すのも逆に楽しみです。

The café is famous for its sweet, shaved ice, made with rare natural ice created by freezing spring water from Mt. Asama outdoors in the cold air of winter. Shaved thin and fine, the ice is light, resembling fresh-fallen snow. Piled heaping high, you might think one bowl is too much to eat, but it’s so delicious you’ll find your spoon hitting bottom before you know it.

Libisco never uses product made the previous day, making fresh batches to serve that day by hand every morning. Made with fresh fruit and milk from Obuse, Libisco’s gelato uses no preservatives and is flavored only with natural ingredients. The dekopon and yogurt double is a particularly popular combination. Libisco also serves flavors made without any eggs or milk, making it a popular destination for persons with allergies as well.

A well-known sweet making shop known as Misuzuame which has long been popular as a Shinshu confection. Using traditional methods unchanged for years the sweets are made with the real fruit flavors intact without the use of any added coloring, artificial flavoring or preservatives. As well as the dried jelly candy, Misuzuame, made with agar and starch syrup, the shop also sells a range of jams and jelly. The building, built in 1924, has been designated as a registered tangible cultural asset. The interior of the store has been created with a fusion of Japanese and Western styles, and decorated with modern furniture. The shop is located a short distance from Ueda Station making it a key city landmark.

A restaurant with delicious tasting vegetables in the Karuizawa Hotel Longinghouse. The restaurant gets fresh and seasonal produce all year round from farmers throughout the country. The restaurant prides itself on using local meat and fish for local consumption, and the staff also grow their own vegetables. There are two private rooms large enough for eight people in the restaurant which can be used for business or pleasure. They also have seating out on the terrace where pets are welcome. The restaurant is open for bookings from breakfast to dinner.

I think I just rated the hotel and not the food so will do tis again. Just had the best 5 course meal I have ever ad at tis lovely restaurant - food really fresh and beautifully presented. I have...

The shop sells famous sweets such as Chimomoto-mochi (rice cakes), soy sauce fragrant grilled soft rice cake balls, irresistible delicately sweet soybean paste dumplings, and shaved ice using natural ice offered throughout the year. In summer there are long queues of people wanting to try the shaved ice.

みたらし団子と言ったら、醤油と砂糖の甘辛に慣れているので、醬油だけの団子はちょっと物足りないと言うかさっぱり過ぎでした。お店の雰囲気はとても良いので、ちょっと一休みするにはとても良いです。
