This public park which opened in 1930 was built on land reclaimed with rubble from the Great Kanto Earthquake. This is a highly popular tourist spot as there are many monuments such as “The Girl in the Red Shoes Statue” and you can get an unbroken view of the sea and Bay Bridge. Again, it is also known as a famous spot for roses, with there being many roses in the fullness of bloom every spring and autumn in the sunken flowerbeds. The park is a three-minute walk from Motomachi Chukagai Station.

Kanagawa Areas

around-area-map

Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo’s most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha. Visitors can also travel a little farther afield for a weekend at Hakone onsen town.
