This museum, situated along the Kanda River just left of the north side of the Nakano Bridge, is operated by Tomita Some-Kougei, a longstanding dyeing company established in 1882. Here you can see examples of traditional Tokyo Some-Komon (fine-patterned dyeing) and Edo Sarasa (silk calico), as well as purchase chic and modern dyed crafts. The museum also holds dyeing activities from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the third Saturday of the month in which you can dye fabric and have it made into a fukusa wrapping cloth; with an advance reservation for a group of 10 or more people, you can also do this experience on weekdays.
