Tokyo Chuou-ku Ginza 4-12-15

This theater located in the Ginza area of Tokyo's Chuo City is dedicated solely to kabuki. The current building is the fifth iteration of the Kabuki-za, having undergone reconstruction and remodeling in accordance with destruction by fire, repairs, and changing eras since it opened in 1889. In addition to the many types of seats from the first floor box seats to the third floor seats, on the fourth floor are the popular “hito-maku miseki,” special seats that allow people to see any one act of a kabuki play. The building's Japanese-style exterior with its tiled roof and balustrades makes for a splendid balance with the Kabukiza Tower that stands behind it and the Ginza streetscapes. In the basement is the Kobikicho Plaza with souvenir shops and restaurants.

This is a department store located in the Ginza district of Tokyo’s Chuo City whose roots lie in the Tsuruya Gofuku store that was started in Yokohama in 1869. The exterior walls that switched over to all LED-lighting in September 2006 have made the store become a new landmark among Ginza’s night scenery. The store is home to world famous brands such as Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior, as well as select shops carrying high quality items. The food merchandise area that spans two full floors is bustling with visitors returning from work or shopping.

The Mitsukoshi department store 's roots extend back to the Echigoya draper's shop established in 1673. Mitsukoshi opened in Ginza in 1930. Consisting of four floors belowground and 12 above, the department store contains a diverse array of shops and merchandise, including over 200 women's clothing brands, one of the largest cosmetics floors in the Ginza area, men's items, and food and sweets specialty shops. The department store's restaurant floor is also popular, and here you can enjoy a broad array of cuisines, from Japanese, Western, and Chinese food to more exotic meals. A Shinto shrine located in Nihombashikoami-cho, Chuo City, Tokyo. Dedicated to Inari, the fox god, the shrine has long been known for providing good luck and protection from misfortune. There is a well on the shrine grounds named the Zeniarai no I and popularly known as the Tokyo Zeniarai Benten (money washing well and Tokyo money washing Benten, respectively) which is believed to grant financial luck to those who purify money in its waters; there's also a figure of the tall-headed god Fukurokuju said to reward worshipers with virtue.

this is a short stop before the fish market walk through. there are no Englsih translation but you get the same effect from other shrines.

This long-established department store founded in 1831 in Kyoto began by selling secondhand clothing and cotton goods, and opened its Tokyo store in 1900. After that it relocated to a new building in Nihombashi in 1933, which is the present location. The store features a full range of fashion, interior goods, gourmet foods, and restaurants. In particular, the Takashimaya Watch Maison timepiece corner spanning the first and second floors handles more than 80 brands and boasts the world’s largest assortment. This venerable department store is located in Nihonbashi, Chuo City, Tokyo. It got its start in the Edo Period as Echigoya, a dry goods store that became popular with the common people for its revolutionary business methods. In 1904, it became Japan's first department store. This theater in the Ginza district of Tokyo's Chuo City was built in 1925. Constructed as a place to showcase the arts of Shinbashi geisha, it is now used to stage a variety of programs with a focus on kabuki, shinpa (new drama) and shin-kigeki (a new comedy troupe). The Shinbashi geisha's Azuma Odori, which is held every year for four days in May, is popular as a spring tradition in Tokyo in which guests can catch a glimpse of the culture in Japan's traditional pleasure quarters which are normally off-limits to first-timers. There are bento meals boxes to enjoy the tradition of the Shinbashi pleasure quarters and a complete cafeteria menu inside the theater.

Located just nearby the A2 exit of Hamacho Station, this is a playhouse that has been well-loved since it was established in 1873. Widely known as a hall for kabuki and shinpa (new drama), it is now host to a variety of performances including kayo concerts, contemporary drama, and musicals. The modern exterior of the Hamacho Center Building accommodates the internal appearance that retains the influence of Japanese-style architecture, and inside are a number of facilities such as a café, lounge, and long-established wagashi (Japanese sweets) shop that visitors can enjoy during the intermission. The Meijiza traditional taste of the Maku-no-uchi bento is the real pleasure of going to this theater.

I really liked this show, especially its music. The whole show was a nice combination of some kabuki, dance, swordplay and some anime.

According to legend, long ago when the Tsukiji area was all ocean, efforts were being made to reclaim the land, but it was extremely difficult. Then, a sacred object shining with light was spotted floating on the ocean, and it was known that it was inhabited by the spirit of Inari Okami, the fox god. This Shinto shrine was built to house that sacred object, and after it was completed the construction work proceeded apace and the land was reclaimed from the sea. Today, it is said the shrine still provides protection from disasters and dangerous waves. The current main shrine building was the last to be constructed in eastern Japan in the pre-war period.

just steps away from the fish market is an island of peace. A nice little shrine. Local feel and is very quiet despite being so close to the market.

There is a shop selling model cars and other merchandise and a cafe as well.

This multipurpose event hall located in the Nihombashi Muromachi district of Tokyo’s Chuo City is often used for business functions such as exhibitions and seminars. There are 690 seats in theater style which can be adapted to 432 seats in a classroom style. Tsukiji Hongwanji is a building of reinforced concrete construction with a round roof and a big stone staircase. It is an ancient Indian style temple and also looks like a palace. It is a temple of Jodo Shinshu Hongan-ji School located in Tsukiji in Chuo City, Tokyo and was originally built in 1617 in Asakusa as a branch temple of Nishi-hongan-ji temple in Kyoto. Subsequently, the building was relocated to the current building which was constructed to incorporate the designs of the architect, Chuta Ito. The building has been designated as a National Cultural Property. It is famous for having held the funerals of many notable public figures. A theater called “Buddhist Hall” is built on the grounds of the property.

This long-established stationary store was founded in 1904 and is known for carrying a wide range of goods from art supplies to office supplies, high grade writing materials and original merchandise. The new G. Itoya main store which was reconstructed in June of 2015 is easily identified by the large red paperclip on its sign outside. K. Itoya, which has a large fountain pen on its exterior sign, is a space to enjoy shopping that was designed under the concept of being a retreat for adults.

Amazing amazing store that I can spend all day inside. A must for anyone interested in all stationery items. They have the nicest pens and pencils!
