- Okuya Peanut Factory is famous for its Royal Peanut soft-serve ice cream made fresh every morning with Aizu-grown peanuts. The peanuts are crushed with the skins, and the ice cream served at a perfect almost-melting temperature. They also offer wholesale bean sweets, including Okuya specialty Hanayome Amanatto sugared red beans or Kentamame mixed nuts. Their Kogen no Tsuyu, made with large, moist, sweetened scarlet runner beans are a real hit. It’s five minutes’ walk from JR Kitakata station.

サザエさんのオープニングにも出てくお店のとのことですが、ふれあい通りを散策中に見つけました。蔵造りの立派な建物で２階の開き窓が印象的でした。残念ながら、開店時間前のようで木戸が閉まっていました。

- This confectionery has maintained its unchanged flavor since its founding in the early Taisho era. The shop is housed in a ware-house style residence that was once a traditional Japanese restaurant, and now it offers a variety of standard sweets and seasonal treats. Their most popular item is the bite-sized Hitokuchi Manju buns, which are popularly called Ten Yen Buns. The clean, pleasant sweetness are light enough to eat every day. Their seasonal treats are also special, as they have Sakura mochi cherry rice cake in spring, shaved ice in summer, sweet potato treats in fall and in winter, they have Kintsuba sweet bean jelly. Follow Shiyakusho-dori Street past the park and look for the modern exterior.

蔵巡りをして駐車場に向かう途中に市役所の近くに蔵造りの立派な店舗を見つけ立ち寄ってみました。和菓子はどれも１００円前後の手頃な価格でバラ売りです。歩き疲れた時の糖分補給ということで「一口まんじゅう」を買い求めました。甘さも程良く、一個１０円という価格も魅力的です。

喜多方へ妻とドライブに行きました。ランチを食べて、デザートを食べたくなり、こちらに伺いました。お土産でお菓子を頂いた事がありましたが、自分で行くのは初めてです。 ケーキは店内では食べられます。 二階でコーヒーやオレンジジュース無料で食べられます。調子に乗って二人で二個ずつ食べました。凄く美味しいのに、4個で2200円程でした。リーズナブルです。 帰りにお土産を買って帰りました。
