    Yamagata Mogami-gun Kaneyamamachi Kaneyama
The entire area of Kaneyama in Kaneyama Town, Mogami County is known as a uniquely charming townscape filled with “Kaneyama-style houses” with white walls and gabled roofs. There is a promenade alongside the agricultural irrigation canal called the “Oozeki” that runs through the center of the town. You can enjoy strolling along the promenade while looking at the koi carp.

    Yamagata Pref. Yamagatashi Nanukamachi 2-7-6
This commercial facility is located on the Ushu Kaido Road in Nanukamachi, Yamagata City. The area was redeveloped to utilize the landscape of Gotenzeki, one of the agricultural canals that were counted among the Yamagata Goseki. Today it's a townscape with a modern Japanese atmosphere. In addition to restaurants and cafes, there are kimono shops and stores dedicated to Yonezawa-ori fabric. It also houses the Kiyoyuki Okuyama's workshop, who is known for overseeing the first Japanese designed Ferraris.

Yamagata Areas

around-area-map

Although often overlooked, Yamagata prefecture by no means lacks appeal: the Yamadera temple trail through the mountains, deliciously tender Yonezawa wagyu, and over 100 steaming hot springs, most notably Zao Onsen, await visitors. When winter comes, the snowcapped peaks become dotted with skiers by day and onsen-goers by night, while summer brings the celebration of juicy Yamagata cherries.
