    Fukuoka Kitakyushu-shi Moji-ku
A 780-meter long subterranean pedestrian tunnel that connects Kitakyushu City in Fukuoka Prefecture and Shimonoseki City in Yamaguchi Prefecture. From the entrance you'll take an elevator underground where you can then cross the under the Kanmon Strait on foot. Midway you'll pass an underwater sign marking the prefectural boundaries, an uncommon sight in Japan. By showing the commemorative stamps available on either side of the tunnel you'll receive the Kanmon TOPPA! Commemorative Certificate.

It is pretty cool to be able to walk from from island to the next so easily and these humans enjoyed the walk.

Yamaguchi Pref. Hagishi Gofukumachi -Minamikore Town
This 0.5 kilometer road leads from Haruwaka-cho to Minami Furuhagi-machi. It was named after the fact that it passes by the Kikuya Family manor, once used as accommodations by traveling inspectors of the Tokugawa Bakufu and given over as troop headquarters. The street walls are lined with tessellated patterns, preserving the original castle town atmosphere for the current day. The street also runs by the birthplaces of Shinsaku Takasugi, and Giichi Tanaka.

Yamaguchi Areas

around-area-map

Heading west along Japan’s largest island, Honshu, the very last prefecture you’ll reach is Yamaguchi, separated from Kyushu by a small strip of water known as the Kanmon Straits, which the far-reaching harbor city Shimonoseki looks over. With water at every turn, the seafood of Yamaguchi is an indisputable highlight, and we’re not talking just the usual fish dishes - the notorious fugu, or puffer fish, is a Japanese delicacy that was discovered in Yamaguchi prefecture, making it the best place to try it out.
