    This is one of the old post towns on the historic Nakasendo highway in which old scenery from the Edo period still remains. The cobblestone path along the hill features various buildings including restaurants and inns that evoke the days of old, giving it a very nostalgic atmosphere. Known as the birthplace of literary master Toson Shimazaki, various facilities connected to Shimazaki remain including the Toson Memorial Museum that is built on the remains of the headquarters of the Shimazaki family.

    Running from Kaminarimon Gate to Senso-ji, this is one of Japan’s oldest shopping streets with a length of more than 250 meters. There are numerous shops along both sides of the street offering famous Tokyo sweets such as kibidango (millet dumplings), kushidango (mochi dumplings on skewers), ningyo-yaki (sponge cakes in various shapes filled with red bean paste) and kaminari-okoshi (sweet rice crackers) as well as souvenirs geared towards foreign tourists, and here visitors can really enjoy the atmosphere of a Japanese shitamachi (downtown neighborhood). The electric signboards that are beautifully uniform are a must-see.

    This area is home to several Western-style residences that were built mostly between the Meiji period and the beginning of the Showa period. Located in Kitano Town, Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, it is famous for the “Kazamidori House” and “Moegi House.” About 20 residences are open to the general public, and there are also several restaurants and museums housed in Western-style buildings. Since the opening of the Port of Kobe, this area has brimmed with a Showa port town atmosphere, making it a popular tourist attraction. The closest station is Sannomiya Station.

    Tokyo Kozushima Mura Kobe Yama 1
    A 15-minute drive from Kozushima Port. This wooden walkway is located a short distance west along the road from the island's northernmost tip. Along its 500-meter-long length, you can take in views not only of the area's deep-blue sea but also the Izu Islands and other islands, and even Mt. Fuji. A shop (only open in the summer) is located nearby and there are steps along the walkway which extend down to the sea, making it possible to use the inlet along which the walkway is built for swimming. There's also a diving platform! The walkway is also a popular destination to take photos of the area's star-filled skies at night.

    This is Japan’s number one electric town as a market for electrical goods that developed from roots as a black market after World War II. It has become one of Japan’s foremost tourist attractions and now there are anime shops and hobby shops, in addition to stores selling home electronics, parts, computers and digital equipment. The number of stores offering goods free of sales tax to foreign tourists is increasing, and every day it is visited by many people. It is only a short five minutes’ walk from Akihabara Station.

    "The main thoroughfare running through the Roppongi Hills complex, it consists of a two-lane vehicle road as well as spacious pedestrian walkways. Some 40 zelkova (""keyaki"" in Japanese) trees have been planted along the street's 400-meter-long expanse, and the street can be used to travel from the vicinity of Hiroo to the Azabu-juban district. High class brand shops line the street, and it is also famous for the beautiful decorative lighting which is put up around Christmas. Flower beds along the street are planted with flowers produced in the Tokyo area, and the street is also dotted with ""street furniture"" - works of art which can be used as benches to sit down on and take a break. Connecting to the Sakurazaka road, the street is also a popular pedestrian walking course."

    Pretty lights, nice atmosphere, restaurants are a little pricey for me but still a great place to get a coffee and hang out

    "This all-weather shopping street is covered by a roof and follows the Toden Arakawa Line, extending from the Minowabashi stop to the Arakawa-Icchumae stop. The shopping street has existed since the early-modern Taisho period. The Nakanoshima Benzaiten, a small shrine which is one of the Arakawa Seven Gods of Fortune, stands near the shopping street's west entrance. The shopping street is filled with old-fashioned fruit and vegetable shops, butcher shops, clothing stores, a supermarket, and a variety of other establishments. The shopping street is visited by particularly large numbers of people in the evening, and its shops selling side dishes at reasonable prices are quite popular during this time. The 11th of each month is ""Nakanoshima Benzaiten Day,"" and on this day shops hold special bargain sales and events are also held in the shopping street."

    This street represents what is fashionable in Osaka, and is located approx. three minutes from the Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Line's Yotsubashi Station. It runs westward one street south of Amerika-mura Triangle Park. The 800-meter long street is lined with photogenic stores popular with young people such as cafes, boutiques, accessory shops, imported furniture stores and interior design shops. The neighborhood flourished as a furniture district from around the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate (1853-1867), and since there are traditional Japanese furniture dealers that have continued to operate since before World War II even now, it is a charming area with a mixture of old and new.

    This samurai district was the result of large scale urban planning by Lord Ashina at the beginning of the Edo period, in 1620. Designated an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, there are still a number of samurai houses preserved, including the Aoyagi house. The area is also famed for cherry blossoms, with weeping cherry and other different cherry trees than Yoshino lining the streets. The Kakunodate Sakura festival is held every year from April 20 to May 5.

This stone-paved alley, famous in part through Sakunosuke Oda’s novel Meoto Zenzai, is crowded with some 60 tiny restaurants and bars. In total, the alley is around 80 meters long. Throughout the day, the alley is visited by an unending stream of people.
