    The at-home izakaya pub with a charming atmosphere was open in 1964 in the North Mall 1 of Whity Umeda directly linked with Hanshin Electric Railway's Umeda Station East Ticket Gate. In addition to the popular tuna sashimi and squid and vegetable stirfry recommended by the owner, they also offer kushikatsu (skewers of fried food), oden hot pots and a wide range of other dishes at a reasonable price. A substantial lineup of beer and sake is available as well.

    This restaurant is close to Miyanoshita Station in a stylish wooden building. Customers seated at the counter can look out at the green trees and the landscape of Hakone which makes it feel exactly like you are in a restaurant in the middle of a forest. It is proud of its cuisine created with very fresh ingredients such as vegetables grown in Hakone or Odawara and fish from Sagami Bay. Serving set menus and bowls at lunchtime, the Ajisai Bowl topped with plenty of horse mackerel and the Seafood Kakiage Tempura Bowl are popular. At night, the restaurant serves a wide range of alcoholic beverages and small dishes. Of these, the Japanese wine and local sake are particularly well-liked.

    Stone construction gives Bar Noble a dignified appearance. Customers can enjoy cocktails made by Mr. Yamada, the owner and bartender who has won prizes in the world championships of the International Bartenders’ Association. Everything about the bar points to the care that was taken with every detail, the antique Baccarat Crystal glassware. The juices used in the cocktails are all freshly squeezed. Soft drinks are available in addition to alcoholic beverages. Cigars are also on sale, and customers can smoke brands from Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

    We are on the quest to visit the best cocktail bars in Japan and next stop is Yokohama. We booked seats for 2 at 10pm and came on time. We were quite surprised with the cover charge of Yen800 per pax...

The atmosphere is friendly, even for unaccompanied customers, and baseball fans who follow a team other than the Yokohama Bay Stars are welcome.     This Belgian beer specialty shop is seven minutes’ walk from JR Keihintohoku Line Sakuragicho Station. Founded in 1989, its Yokohama’s oldest Belgian beer specialist. They offer four keg beers and about 50 different and unique bottled beers, all of which you can enjoy at live events like jazz concerts and more. The draft beers are all on special during happy hour (18:00–19:00). The retro interior and round red leather seats have been left just as they were when Hibari Misora sat there as a child when this was the cafe Ponyu.

    今回は娘が来ていたので夕食を兼ねてお邪魔しました。 夏野菜をメインにした料理、会津の地酒をいただきました。 今回もカウンターを利用しましたが、相変わらず手際よくお酒・料理とも出てきます。 お腹にガッツリなメニューは見当たりませんが、お酒とともに楽しむには最適です。 なるべく予約いただいた方が良いかと思います。

    Sendai Izakaya Ohana always has 40 to 50 types of sake from Tohoku and Miyagi available and is a popular restaurant for sashimi (sliced raw fish) and local cuisine created by experienced chefs. There are also many quiet private rooms that can be used for various events such as dinner parties, dinner meetings, welcome parties, and dates. Advance viewings are also accepted. For lunch the “Daily Ohana” is recommended, and at night the “Basho course, with all you can drink” is recommended. Guests will be very satisfied with both presentation and taste. It is a four minute walk from JR Sendai Station.

    Akadama Shoten, located down a back alley off Nakadori Street in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is a Western-style izakaya (pub) where you can enjoy a range of dishes that recreate old naval recipes and other creative dishes. The old refurbished house with its mix of both Japanese and Western styles has a retro feel from the days of the Showa period. From the tatami mat seating on the second floor guests can enjoy views out onto the back alley. The oil tanker Ondo's “Navy rolled cabbage” and battleship Kirishima's “kujira no katsu” (whale cutlet) are popular dishes. The restaurant also serves an assortment of candy for each table.

    呉で飲んで友人と二軒目にお邪魔しました。 お店の内外とも昭和30年後半をイメージしています。 店名の赤玉から赤玉ポートワインを使ったメニューも多くあり、昭和にひたり仲間とワイワイと飲むに良いお店です。

    Tone, located in Honmachi, Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is an izakaya (Japanese pub) managed by the chicken wholesaler Tone Shokucho. It used to be a grilled chicken restaurant boasting yakitori (grilled chicken) and chicken dishes using a secret sauce handed down from the time the shop first opened. Guests can also taste special dishes unique to Hiroshima, such as sashimi made with Setouchi’s seafood and some authentic sushi. Their special beef curry, a recipe recreated from the frigate, Tone, is also popular. The atmosphere is of a traditional Japanese-style pub, which includes seating at the counter and raised tatami mat seating, as well private rooms where guests can enjoy a relaxing meal and some local sake.

    This pub prepares Hiroshima’s favorite food using the prefecture’s wealth of local ingredients. It is situated near the tourist spots Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and the Genbaku Dome (Atomic Bomb Dome). The oyster dishes are the most popular, with Hiroshima-brand Kusatsu oysters being used. The owner makes sure to only purchase the best ingredients, using them to prepare delicious baked oysters, fried oysters, oyster rice, and many other dishes. The fresh sardine sashimi and broiled conger eel are popular as well. The pub interior radiates with the comforting warmth of wood, and it is frequented by both local patrons and tourists.

    Incredible! Our favorite meal in Hiroshima with excellent oysters and sake. We tried the oysters grilled, steamed and pan fried—all superb!
