    This izakaya (Japanese-style pub) is located in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City. There, guests can enjoy a wide variety of Japanese sake together with dishes made with plenty of seafood from the Seto Inland Sea including anago no shirayaki (conger eel grilled without seasoning) and unihoren (sea urchin and sauteed spinach). The popular izakaya is notable for its unique interior, especially its entrance (a hole punched in a wall), and for the way it operates, such as the lack of prices on the menu.

    This Okinawan restaurant is located a three-minute walk from JR Hiroshima Station. The restaurant offers a diverse menu that includes dishes such as goya champuru (Okinawan stir fry dish with bitter melon) and rafute (Okinawan braised pork belly) made with local ingredients, Okinawan awamori (a distilled rice spirit), and more. Furnished with Ryukyu (Okinawa-style) tatami mats, the interior allows customers to soak up the vibe of Okinawa. The restaurant is especially popular with locals.

    どっぷり疲れた状態で、伺ったのでテンションは低めでした。お店の方はとても感じよく、沖縄ムードばっちりです。

    Akadama Shoten, located down a back alley off Nakadori Street in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is a Western-style izakaya (pub) where you can enjoy a range of dishes that recreate old naval recipes and other creative dishes. The old refurbished house with its mix of both Japanese and Western styles has a retro feel from the days of the Showa period. From the tatami mat seating on the second floor guests can enjoy views out onto the back alley. The oil tanker Ondo's “Navy rolled cabbage” and battleship Kirishima's “kujira no katsu” (whale cutlet) are popular dishes. The restaurant also serves an assortment of candy for each table.

    呉で飲んで友人と二軒目にお邪魔しました。 お店の内外とも昭和30年後半をイメージしています。 店名の赤玉から赤玉ポートワインを使ったメニューも多くあり、昭和にひたり仲間とワイワイと飲むに良いお店です。

    Tone, located in Honmachi, Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is an izakaya (Japanese pub) managed by the chicken wholesaler Tone Shokucho. It used to be a grilled chicken restaurant boasting yakitori (grilled chicken) and chicken dishes using a secret sauce handed down from the time the shop first opened. Guests can also taste special dishes unique to Hiroshima, such as sashimi made with Setouchi’s seafood and some authentic sushi. Their special beef curry, a recipe recreated from the frigate, Tone, is also popular. The atmosphere is of a traditional Japanese-style pub, which includes seating at the counter and raised tatami mat seating, as well private rooms where guests can enjoy a relaxing meal and some local sake.

    仕事関係の人と行きました。 お刺身も美味しかったですし、ほかのお料理もどれも美味しかったです。 呉に行った際はまた行きたいです。

    This pub prepares Hiroshima’s favorite food using the prefecture’s wealth of local ingredients. It is situated near the tourist spots Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and the Genbaku Dome (Atomic Bomb Dome). The oyster dishes are the most popular, with Hiroshima-brand Kusatsu oysters being used. The owner makes sure to only purchase the best ingredients, using them to prepare delicious baked oysters, fried oysters, oyster rice, and many other dishes. The fresh sardine sashimi and broiled conger eel are popular as well. The pub interior radiates with the comforting warmth of wood, and it is frequented by both local patrons and tourists.

    Incredible! Our favorite meal in Hiroshima with excellent oysters and sake. We tried the oysters grilled, steamed and pan fried—all superb!

    癖のない味付けで、食べやすかった。 昔からある居酒屋、といった感じで落ち着く居酒屋です。カウンターでもスタッフさんと目が合うことない作りになっているので、お座敷よりも良かったです。

    ランチタイムは人が少なくて、ゆっくりできました。新鮮なお魚が食べれるし、量もちょうど良かったです。夜に宴会で来たら、コース料理が食べられるみたいですね。

    もつ鍋の専門店という事で、友人に連れて行ってもらいました。プリプリのもつは大変美味しく、あっという間に鍋の具が無くなってしまいました。そこに残ったスープも美味しく、その中にちゃんぽん麺を入れて、いただいたのですが、こちらもとても美味しかったです。満足いたしました。

    店内はそれなりの広さがありカウンターもあるので女性一人でも入りやすかったです。メニューも広島ならではのメニューもありどれも量が多くなくて何種類も楽しむことができました。お酒の種類も豊富でした。

    店に入ってしばらくすると、奥座敷から泥酔した店長が出てきて、客の前でいきなり男性店員を罵倒し出した。さらに女性店員にセクハラ発言をしていた。よくこんな最悪店長の下で勤める店員がいると驚いた。料理も大したことなく、潰れるのは時間の問題だと思った。

There is more than meets the eye awaiting any Hiroshima-bound traveler. Kicking off in Hiroshima city, the Peace Memorial Park, Hiroshima Castle, and Shukkeien Garden offer a couple of days of exploring; however, the real beauty lies along the southern coast of the prefecture. There, a series of islands spreads across the Seto Inland Sea: from the mysterious sea-submerged Great Torii Gate at Miyajima Island to the first half of the islands that connect Honshu to Shikoku via six spectacular suspension bridges.
