    Oita Pref. Nakatsushi Kaku 814
A roadside station standing on the Nakatsu bypass in Kaku, Nakatsu City. The station boasts the largest farmer’s market of any roadside station in the prefecture, and here visitors can purchase agricultural products, meats, dairy, and seafood. Dining establishments include a set meal section, karaage fried chicken section, and sweets and café section, and station visitors can enjoy daggertooth pike conger, a local specialty product, and other seafood delights; Nakatsu’s famous karaage fried chicken; coffee and sweet sets; and more.

A roadside station standing on National Route 387 in Soi, Innai-machi, Usa City. The station sells fresh, local agricultural products such as high altitude, cold growth tomatoes and foods made with yuzu, a local specialty product, including the station’s famous yuzu soft serve ice cream. There’s also a restaurant and information counter. Japanese giant salamanders, a designated National Special Natural Monument, are raised on the grounds as well, and here visitors can see the largest such salamanders in captivity in the country.

Oita Areas

around-area-map

A trip to Oita is tantamount to a long soak in the Beppu baths. The mountainous, coastal prefecture of Oita is renowned for having more onsen than any other prefecture in Japan, most of which lie in the city of Beppu on the west coast of Kyushu, recognizable by its pungent sulphuric aroma and the clouds of steam that puff up across the hillside. Away from the Beppu hot springs await mountains, waterfalls, and temples, so don’t hesitate to explore Oita a little further.
