A hot spring establishment at Kumanokawa Onsen on the Kase River in Fuji Town. Relax in the natural hot spring rising from the quiet site in the mountains while taking in the seasonal scenery. Kumanokawa Onsen boasts some of Japan's highest radon content and has long been a popular location for therapeutic hot spring treatment. At 500-liters per minute, this day-use bathhouse has the most abundant flow of water in western Kyushu.

Toshoka is one of bathing facilities in Kumanogawa Onsen (hot spring). As I didn’t visit other house, I cannot compare, but Toshoka is clean, modern and very relaxing. Although the entrance is a...

"Koyu Hot Spring in the northern part of Saga City is located at the confluence of the Kawakami River and the Kaino River, and has long been known as a therapeutic hot spring. It is said that Mokichi Saito, Shigeru Aoki, and others stayed here, and in 1966 it was designated as a national recreational hot spring resort. The spring water is simple and is said to be effective for rheumatism and neuralgia. There are many hot spring inns, and day-trip bathing is also available. Tsuru Reisen, a long-established ryokan, has a natural sand bath and a half-open-air bath, which are rare in Japan, and visitors can bathe while enjoying the view of a Japanese garden. There is also a legend that it is called the ""hot spring of revival."

    Saga Saga-shi Fujicho Furuyu 2665-2
This hot spring district, situated 20 kilometers north of Saga Station and 200 meters above sea level, was famously frequented by artists and writers such as Mokichi Saito, considered an authority in Japanese poetry circles. In 1966, the area was designated a National Hot Spring Health Resorts as Furuyu-kumanokawa onsenkyo by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. The colorless, odorless, flavorless waters of the area's simple alkaline hot spring have a hydrogen ion concentration (pH) of 9.5, one of the highest in the country (the Yoshihanatei's spring is a simple mildly radioactive spring). There are 13 hot spring lodging facilities in the area, and the bathhouses of all of them are open to non-guests, ensuring that visitors can stay and enjoy some long, relaxing soaks or stop by while traveling through the area to ease away the fatigue of the journey. There are also many sightseeing destinations in the area, such as the Yoshimura Residence, an ancient wooden single story house with a thatched roof which is the oldest Japanese-style home in the prefecture; and the Kinpukuji Temple, the place where the rebel statesmen Eto Shinpei was confined.

Saga Areas

around-area-map

Away from the fast-paced cities of mainland Japan, Kyushu’s Saga prefecture offers quaint towns and cities known for their traditional crafts, particularly ceramics. Rich in kaolin (a type of clay), Saga became the homeland of Arita ware, a delicate, decorative porcelain that is now celebrated worldwide and can be discovered in the towns of Arita, Imari, and Karatsu.
