On the second floor replica works of string instruments are exhibited, and there is also concert hall where regular concerts are held. Trial violin trial lessons are also available.

    知人のコンサートがこちらで開催された際訪問しました。 こぢんまりしていますが、とても雰囲気の良い博物館です。 バイオリンに特化しているので展示物や説明はとても充実していて、バイオリンの事を少し理解することが出来ました。

    The Ochidani district of Tottori City has several temples that were associated with the lords that ruled the Tottori domain in times gone by. The Tottori City History Museum (Yamabikokan), which is located in a corner of the Ouchidani District, provides an introduction to the history and culture of the Tottori region. Besides the permanent exhibitions, the Museum also holds thematic exhibitions and special exhibitions relating to Tottori. In early summer, the Museum is open in the evenings on certain days so that visitors can view fireflies in the Museum grounds.

    公営の博物館なので入館料も安いです。高校生以下や70歳以上などは無料なので子供と一緒だとちょっとお得です。また企画展示も行われていることがあり、その際もセット(企画展と常設展示)でも料金は安いです。興味のある企画展示の時を狙っていくのもいいです。

    "A 15-minute drive from the Yonago Interchange on the Yonago Expressway. In this museum, situated at the foot of Mt. Daisen, visitors can learn about the history and plant and animal life of Mt. Daisen, a designated national park. The history, culture, and diverse seasonal plants and animals of the mountain are introduced on the first floor. Since ancient times, Mt. Daisen has been an object of worship, and through dioramas and projection mapping, visitors can experience the history and culture of the mountain and surrounding area. The second floor presents the story behind ""Japan's Largest Livestock Market Born of Jizou Bodhisattva Worship,"" which was included in the Japan Heritage list in 2016."

    大山の登山口、ナショナルパークセンターの向いにある小さな博物館で、山の歴史や動植物などを紹介している。無料なので気軽に立ち寄れる。

    This was the site of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's attack and now the castle tower and Nino Maru ruins are all that remains. The surroundings are maintained as Kyushou Park. It is one of the best one hundred spots for cherry blossom viewing and in the spring many people from around Japan visit.

    This volcano in Tottori Prefecture is the highest peak in the Chugoku area. Part of the Daisen Oki National Park the mountain has an altitude of 1,729 meters and was selected as one of Japan’s top 100 mountains and 100 landscapes. The west side is a beautiful cone shape also called “Mt. Fuji of the east, Daisen of the west”. The main “summer mountain climbing course” aims for the summit while allowing climbers to look out over one of Japan’s greatest beech forests and natural monuments, Daisen Kyaraboku, a kind of Dwarf Japanese yew, growing en masse. This is popular with beginners and children too.

    This is a roadside station that is located next to the last station of the Wakasa railway and is a rare roadside station where visitors can see the steam train. Visitors can enjoy locally grown fresh vegetables, specialty goods and a prepared food buffet that is made with local ingredients. Visitors can also experience driving a JNR steam locomotive C12 type 167, and this attracts many visitors.

    地元で水揚げされた新鮮な魚介類やとれたて野菜、地元のお米やお肉を使った料理が美味しいです。栄養バランスの良い定食などが味わえます。

    "This museum, located 30 minutes from the Tottori Interchange on the Tottori Expressway, introduces the wonders of San'in Kaigan Geopark via a variety of exhibits and images. The museum also holds various events throughout the year such as nature watching sessions and nature classes. Particularly popular exhibits include the ""touchable globe,"" a digital globe visitors can touch and interact with to learn more about the workings of our planet from a variety of perspectives; aquariums containing examples of fish and other creatures living in the area; and periodic screenings of realistic, 3D films of the interiors of the Kairyujin (sea cave)and Okaryujin (land cave), two caves on the tip of Cape Haneo to which entry is currently prohibited."

    Not so big but very interesting place where you can learn a lot about the local sea animals, plants and minerals. Good for children and adults. Also, there are a few aquariums with some very cute...

    This is a temple established at 900 meters height situated in Mt. Mitoku. The building is built protruding from a steep cliff wall, and is designated as a National Treasure. The mountain road to the temple is extremely dangerous with many accidents so please take care. It is recommended that you view the temple from the “Nageiredo” distant worship spot in the mountain foothills.

    投入堂迄の行程の8割位の場所にあります。良くメディアにも取り上げられる絶景です。落ちたら確実に死にます。こんな危険な場所なのに何の囲いも有りません。全て自己責任です。鳥になった気分になれます。少なくとも此処まではたどり着いてほしい場所です。反対に此処で諦める方も多かったです。

    This Buddhist temple is one of the 37 famous and ancient temples spanning the five prefectures of the Chugoku region on the Chugoku Kannon Pilgrimage. Situated at the foot of a mountain at the far end of a forest road, the temple's principal objects of worship are statues depicting a Sakra and a thousand armed Kannon. The ancient temple is connected to the legend of the Koyama Choja and was founded around 834. Mt. Mani, where the temple is located, has been believed to be a gathering spot for the souls of the deceased since the ancient times, and even today there is a deep-rooted mountain faith which worships the mountain, which legend has it is where spirits have been called back from the beyond. The temple is a 20-minute drive from Tottori Station. Note that visiting the temple requires one to climb some 300 steep steps.

    A large wooden building modeled after Kyoto's Kinkakuji Temple, a world heritage site. It's permanent exhibit features about 1,000 dolls, including Hina Ningyo dolls from the Edo period when the art form flourished, decorations for Hina-matsuri, Kamo Ningyo dolls, and Gosho Ningyo dolls. Mochigase-nagashibina ceremony takes place at Mochigase-cho on the third of March on the lunar calendar. Participants pray for good health and to avoid misfortune by setting special Hina dolls adrift. It's been designated a Prefectural Intangible Folk Cultural Property. They also hold workshops in making the paper dolls, and you can bring them home with you when you finish. You can write a wish on special charms and save them for the next ceremony too.

    まず、重厚な木造建築の建物があまりにも立派なことに驚かされました。館内には江戸時代からのお雛様が展示されていて、それぞれが形や表情に違いがあり、見ごたえたっぷりでした。館内にある庭園を眺めながら食事ができる喫茶もおすすめです。

    "Records state this ancient Buddhist temple was founded some 600 years ago in 1334, during the Nanboku-cho period. The temple's principal object of worship is a statue of Avalokitesvara which records state a son had made to pray for the happiness of his father after his death. Also known as the ""Wisteria Temple,"" the temple is famous for its beautiful wisteria. There are four large wisteria trees on the grounds which are around a half-century old; one, known as the ""Rokushaku-fuji,"" has flowers which dangle down six ""shaku"" (1.8 meters; ""rokushaku"" in Japanese), and is one of only a few such majestic examples of wisteria trees found anywhere in Japan. In most years, the trees bloom during Golden Week (early May), and during this time the temple holds a wisteria festival which includes festivities such as live koto performances, tea ceremony sessions, and nighttime tree illumination."

    名和神社の参拝後、行きました。すぐ近所です。訪問日5月15日。藤が有名なんで良いタイミングかと思ったんですが、どうやら遅かったみたいでフジ棚から垂れ下がる淡い紫の花はほんのわずか残っている感じでした。わずかながらもキレイでしたけどね。 無料の駐車場があり、境内はすぐ近くにあります。 5月のゴールデンウィークが一番に見頃のようで有名な「藤まつり」もそこで開催されます。 満開の藤の花のライトアップも...

    "Shirakabe traditional warehouse district of Kurayoshi City is located around 40 minutes' drive from either the Yubara Interchange or the Hiruzen Interchange of the Yonago Expressway. Known as ""Little Kyoto"" because of its elegant appearance, the warehouse district has traditional white-walled warehouse buildings and stone bridges crossing the Tamagawa River that flows through the city, creating a magical retro atmosphere; this is one of the most Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings. Most of the warehouse buildings-which combine black walls made from burnt cedar wood with white wall plaster and red Sesshu tiled roofs-were built in the Edo period (1603-1868) or the Meiji period (1868-1912). Several of the warehouses have been refurbished inside, such as Akagawara Ichigokan (which now houses several first-rate shops selling local specialty products); others are now used as cafes, art galleries, etc."

    A Shinto shrine located in Hino Town, Hino County, Tottori Prefecture famed for granting worshippers luck with money and better fortunes. The shrine is said to have been founded in 810 when the second son of a Shinto priest in Izumo suddenly felt the gemstone amulet he was carrying become heavy while travelling through the area; he then built the shrine in accordance with instruction provided to him through a god in a dream. During the Jumbo lottery season, the shrine is visited by large numbers of worshippers. Four times a year, the shrine holds an event to exorcise and burn old wallets. The shrine sells yellow wallets and other tokens of good fortune, as well as lucky sweets.

    金持神社の駐車場脇に札所があり、日野町観光物産館の売店として運営されていました。狭い店内ですが、中には神社由緒の品々が並んでおり、土産物としては十分の品揃えと云えそうでした。 参拝者が多い神社で、店内も混みあっていました。

The shop sells local Route such as “Twenty Century Pears,” as well as camel-related goods and local sakes, etc. Tottori Sand Dunes Rakudaya also offers camel rides over the Tottori Sand Dunes, and opportunities to have your photo taken with camels.

    駱駝は乗りたかったのですが、時間的な都合などで止めましたが、梨のソフトというのが見えたのでそちらにしました。梨と言うので楽しみにしていましたが、梨の風味はあまり感じられずどちらかと言うとブドウに似た様な感じで一寸がっかりでした。しかし、砂丘が楽しめたので良かったです。

    This Shinto shrine is one of the most famous destinations for flower viewing in the San'in region. Originally quite small, in 1883 the shrine was rebuilt and became one of the largest in Tottori prefecture. Some 400 Yoshino cherries have been planted along the approach to the shrine, and when they come into bloom in spring they form a veritable tunnel of cherry blossoms. The shrine is dedicated to the souls of Nawa Nagatoshi and 42 others who went to rescue Emperor Go-Daigo from the Oki Islands and fought hard for their ruler in the Nanbokucho period.

    南朝の功臣名和長年を祀る神社。 JR名和駅の近くにあり徒歩でも行ける距離ですが、車でのアクセスが便利です。 神社自体は非常に静かな雰囲気で、厳粛な感じがします。 歴史好きな方やパワースポット好きの方向きの場所です。

    This observatory has the leading 103 cm reflecting telescope in Japan and a planetarium. In the daytime, visitors can view planetarium projection and daytime stars, and sun observation society events are held. During the night visitors can enjoy observing the starry night sky from the telescope at the accommodation facility.

    星の観察会、月の観察会、学芸員さんの丁寧な説明もあり充実しています。設備もこんな田舎に凄い!と思うほどで入館料も300円位だったような。市内から40分ほどかかりますがお勧めです。

    This is the Soto Sect temple, home to the “Rokudo Painting of Hell and Paradise”, said to be the origin of the ghosts used by Shigeru Mizuki, author of Gegege no Kitaro. There are also monuments in the precinct of Shigeru Mizuki and Matsuo Basho.

    水木しげるさんが幼いころ、「のんのんばあ」に連れられて、よく訪れていたという正福寺です。本堂に向かって左に記念碑と説明があります。
