  • Amanohashidate-jinja Shrine

    Kyoto Miyadushi Monju Amanohashidate Park
    Some dragon legends survive in Amanohashidate, and Amanohashidate-jinja Shrine honors the Eight Great Dragon Kings. Located in Amanohashidate Park, it's a popular power spot known for the fulfillment of love. The park is also one of Japan's three most scenic spots, so you can visit the shrine while taking in the gorgeous view.

    "An observatory situated past the red torii gates on the approach to Shiizaki Inari Shrine south along Prefectural Route 605 from the Amanohashidate Marina. The name of the observatory is derived from a painting designated a National Treasure created by the ancient master painter Sesshu. The famous scenery visible from here resembles Amanohashidate, one of Japan's three most picturesque areas, and thus began being called the ""Sesshukan"" (""Sesshu's View"") after the artist's renowned painting of Amanohashidate. The Sesshukan has been designated one of the 10 Views of Amanohashidate. The entirety of Miyazu Bay is visible from here, as well, and, in addition, in late April, visitors can enjoy the sight of blooming Rhododendron dilatatum."

    "A 10 minute drive from the Yosa-Amanohashidate interchange and a 25 minute drive from the Miyazu-Amanohashidate interchange. This museum is also located right next to the ""Tango Kyodoshiryokan"" bus stop. To locals, it is known as the ""Furusato Museum Tango."" The main building exhibition space introduces the history and culture of Tango and is also used to hold around five special exhibitions a year. Visitors can view exhibits on the Chionji Temple and Tenkyo-gijuku school as well as artifacts unearthed from archeological digs. Other highlights include the Former Residence of the Nagashima Family, a farming family main building built in 1840 which was moved here, and the Tango Kokubunji Temple Site. The museum is closed on Mondays and during the New Year's holidays."

    Kyoto Miyadushi Yura 949
    Established in 1832, this historic sake brewery is located approximately a seven-minute walk from the Tango-Yura Station on the Kyoto Tango Railway and approximately a 20-minute from the Miyazu-Amanohashidate Interchange off the Kyoto-Jukan Expressway. Visitors may tour the wine storehouse and casks from the early 1800s Tenpo era, when the winery was established, can listen to the history and story behind the origin of the name, and, of course, enjoy wine tasting the raw sake made on site. Next to the sake storehouse is a small shop selling various alcoholic delicacies including small brew sakes and liqueurs, and other related miscellaneous items. The tour lasts approximately 30 minutes. One can also rest and enjoy sake sweets in the cafe created inside the old rice mill.

    The historic site of the Tango Kokubunji Temple, one of the many Kokubunji Temples throughout Japan. The remains of the main temple structure, tower, and cornerstones reconstructed during the Nanboku-cho Period still remain and the site has been designated a National Historical Site.

    A sightseeing cruise from Miyazu to Fuchu via Monju that offers a great view of the Amanohashidate land bridge. It's a pine covered stretch that connects the Fuchu and Monju region and the boat trip takes approximately 12 minutes. Feeding seagulls while enjoying the pine trees of Amanohashidate is on top of your list.

    A museum in the quiet mountain village of Ikaga where Ono no Komachi is said to have spent her latter years away from the city. The building, made to resemble a shrine, is 430 square meters in size. Exhibits include a near-life-size bronze statue of Komachi, scrolls that show that Komachi came to the area, and a hand-mirror that was used by Komachi.

    An almost 10-meter tall sea cave in a seaside cliff in the Tango-Amanohashidate-Oeyama Quasi-National Park. On site is the main temple building and main gate of the Seiryozan Kuhonji Temple, one of the three Tango Monju temples, and next to the main hall is a small path leading down the cliff face. The scale of this sea cave makes it one of the foremost examples of such.
  • Keitoku-in Temple

    A Buddhist temple in the Rinzai sect Tenryuji School with a statue of Shakyamuni as the principle object of worship. The temple is famous for their collection of 44 sliding door paintings(named Hojyo-shohekiga) by Japanese painter Nagasawa Roshu (1767-1847) of the Maruyama Sect. These are incredibly precious examples of late-Edo period style painting and include paintings in the six rooms of the main hall such as eight panels of a Tiger painting and eight panels of Flowers and Birds. The paintings have been designated a Cultural Property of Kyoto Prefecture.

    This agricultural recreation spot is filled with natural blessings and was opened to help show the connection between food and farming. The area has a direct view of Wakasa port and Kanmuri island, and is embraced by greenery. On the grounds there is an agricultural restaurant, sweets shop, vegetable gardens, and direct sales shops. The Fururu Market sits at the center of the park, and is jam packed with fresh-harvested produce and agricultural products from local farmers. The weekends are especially crowded with shoppers. In addition to seasonal vegetables, there activities intended to spread awareness of the connections between farm and food. In collaboration with the Japan Farm Village Network 21, farmers from other regions also come to sell their goods, including things that can only be found here.

    This museum collects and displays materials on the ruins of Tanabe castle, where Hosokawa Yusai (Hosokawa Fujitaka) was once lord. He is known as the founder of early modern poetics study. The museum introduces the history of castle owners such as Hosokawa Yusai and the history of Tanabe Castle and its castle town through panels and model exhibits.
  • Kabutoyama Observatory Deck

    This observation deck is on the summit of Mt. Kabuto in Kyotango City, Kyoto Prefecture. The viewpoint overlooks the Tango Peninsula with Kumihama Bay, the Sea of Japan, and the rural landscape unfolding below. You can drive to the observation deck, but since the road is rather narrow, we recommend walking up via the hiking trail.

    This is a museum in Kyotango City, Kyoto Prefecture. Built around the well known theme of the local barking sand, which makes a sound when moved, one can experientially learning about this natural phenomenon here. You can view the barking sand from beaches in Japan, and also compare them with the microscope photos of barking sands of overseas beaches. Even if the weather in inclement on the Kotobiki beach, you can enjoy making the sand bark at the hands-on corner inside the center.

    This viewing spot is located in Kyotango City, Kyoto Prefecture. It received its name because it resembles the landscape of Matsushima, one of the Three Views of Japan. It is also chosen at one of Kyoto's Best 200 Natural Sites for the islands that can be seen from Inugamisaki Cape to Kyogamisaki Cape and the view of the sandy beach coastline. In addition, nearby there is a beach for bathing and a walking path that goes from the Inugamisaki Park parking lot to Inugamisaki Cape.

It is also known for catching snow crabs, and oysters. A good view of the scenic bay and the Sea of Japan can be had from the nearby Kabuto Hill observation tower.

    Mukai Brewery is a sake brewery located in the town of Ine, Yosa County, Kyoto Prefecture. It is an old brewery, in business since 1754, and unusual in that the storehouse is built into one end of a group of traditional fishermen's houses known as funaya. that faces the sea. One of its major brands is called Kyo no Haru, including such varieties as superior junmai daiginjo, yamahai shikomi, and nigorisake.. Customers can now order the brewery's products over the Internet.

    Fruits Oukoku Yasaka, located in the city of Kyotango in Kyoto Prefecture, is a fruit orchard open to the public from August to November. Visitors make reservations to come and pick peaches, grapes, pears, and other fruit in season. Processed fruit products, such as gelato or juice, are also sold. This is a popular spot for local families, and tourists enjoy it, too.
