The oldest temple in Tsu City, it is located in Sakae-machi, Tsu City, Mie Prefecture and said to have been built by Prince Shotoku at the imperial request of Empress Suiko. It originally had larger premises, but the majority of it was burned down during WWII. Nyu Daishi Shinguji Temple is a five-minute drive from the Seiwa-Taki Interchange on the Kisei Expressway. It was founded in 774, and its formal name is said to have been much longer. The main hall, protected by a Niomon gate, where guardian kings Jikokuten and Tamonten stand at the left and right and are venerated, contains a statue of the temple's founder, Kobo Daishi, who is the principal object of worship. Sugatami Pond, located on the temple grounds, is a favorite spot for amateur photographers, who visit to capture images of the carp that swim around in the pond or the pygmy water lilies that cover the water's surface from late June to early July.

Located a five-minute walk from JR Ishinden Station, this is the head temple of the Shinshu Takada sect, one of 10 sects of Pure Land Buddhism, with over 600 temples throughout Japan. On November 28, 2017, Mieido (hall housing sacred images of the sect founder) and Nyoraido (main hall) were designated as Mie Prefecture's first National Treasure buildings. The grounds are twice the size of Tokyo Dome, and it is a huge temple with 11 nationally-designated Important Cultural Properties besides the two National Treasures. There is no admission free, and you can go inside the temple from 6:00 to 15:30. Also famous for its lotuses, you can enjoy the various kinds of lotus flowers that bloom all over the temple grounds and the stunning lotus pond in the summer.

"This temple, affectionately known as ""Ise Sanjo"" (the top of Mt. Ise), was used for ascetic practices before the Meiji era. It is now open to the public, and after going through the entry process you can climb the harsh mountain path to visit Ibuta-ji Temple yourself. Inside the grounds, you'll find the Yakushido temple, holding a statue of Yakushinyorai as the temple's principal"

Spread across the eastern side of the Kii Peninsula, Mie prefecture boasts hundreds of kilometers of pretty coastline comprising the oyster-rich Toba city and Shima National Park all the way down to Kumano, a city that marks the beginning of part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage, which runs into neighboring Wakayama prefecture. However, Mie is best known for the Ise Jingu Shinto shrine inland, one of the oldest and largest shrines in the country.
