You can pick out this yakiniku BBQ restaurant on Route 166 in Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture by its sign with the Japanese characters for grilled meat, chicken, and vegetables. They offer soft and juicy Matsusaka raised chicken marinated in their secret recipe miso sauce, chicken liver, and more that you eat right off the grill. Their stew packed with Chinese cabbage and chicken and their savory chicken and vegetable soup with white miso also comes recommended. They also have white rice, regular miso soup, and palate-cleansing side dishes like cabbage and kimchi. They close as soon as they sell out, and depending on the menu of the day, this sometimes happens in the morning.

This meat cuisine restaurant, standing on Prefectural Route 60, is located in Naka-machi, Matsusaka City. The longstanding establishment opened in the Meiji period and serves sukiyaki, steaks, and amiyaki grilled foods using Matsusaka beef raised on company-owned farms. The restaurant's sukiyaki, sauteed on an iron skillet over a charcoal fire, has been a signature dish since it first opened its doors, and those who order it can savor the delicious flavor and aroma of Matsusaka beef laced with smooth, high quality fat.

Booked on their web site and got a confirmation within 1 hour. It is convenient for foreigners. Their staff speak little English. Yet the quality of steaks does the talking. Sukiyaki is also...

Shintamatei is a long-standing restaurant, founded in 1890, that specializes in charcoal-broiled eel. It is located about an 11-minute walk from Tsu-Shinmachi Station on the Kintetsu Nagoya Line. The eel is basted with a traditional sauce made of boiled soy sauce, mirin, and rock sugar that is allowed to sit for a wake before being used. Customers can enjoy broiled eel that is crispy on the outside and soft and light on the inside. The live eels are kept in natural well water, which reduces any stress that might have a negative influence on their flavor. The rice is locally sourced, and the restaurant takes great care to ensure that customers can feel that their food is safe and of high quality. Customers can become members of the Unachan program, which entitles them to occasional e-mail announcements from Shintamatei and hidden menu items that are available to members only.

This well-established restaurant for Matsusaka beef cuisine was founded in 1902 and is located in Uo Town, Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture, which still bears the traces of a castle town. Their standard menu item is the Sukiyaki which uses beef from Matsusaka cattle which are famous as high-quality Japanese cattle, and the simple seasoning made with just soy sauce and sugar enhances the original umami flavor of the beef. Their Amiyaki in which one can taste thick slices of charbroiled is also popular. In the pure Japanese-style tatami room guests can enjoy a calm and relaxed atmosphere.

Try Japanese ramen made with carefully selected Japanese ingredients by a professional at this famous restaurant. As the Cooking King of the Matsusaka G-1 Grand Prix for two years running, the chef displays his excellent skills in a love for gourmet that goes beyond a simple enjoyment of ramen. Their ramen boasts a Japanese white broth made with dashi stock from the finest tuna, with pork, chicken, rausu-konbu, scallops and more. All their ramen is piled high with local ingredients such as their popular Special Ramen with Everything and White Sesame Tantanmen. The nearest station is Matsusaka Station.

One of its most popular items is its monaka with a unique and refined flavor that consists of a filling called oinotomo (similar to yokan sweet bean jelly) spread between two wafers. This cafe is like a secret hideaway about 10 minutes on foot from JR Kintetsu Matsusaka Station. It's in a renovated old kominka house that used to be a watchmaker's shop. It has a simple, relaxed atmosphere with unpretentious antique furniture. The only food they serve is curry soup. The roux is prepared with fresh cream and the curry has lots of vegetables. They also have homemade cake, coffee, and tea. Whatever you get, it will be excellent.

Enjoy the uniquely prepared Ise cha, with tea leaves steamed two to three times more than ordinary sencha (steamed green tea), rich with umami components and astringent. They also have a full selection of manju, yokan (red bean jelly) and cheesecake that goes well with tea. There are even senbei rice crackers, chiffon cake and soft-serve ice cream seasoned with the flavor of tea. This long-established sushi restaurant founded in 1951 is one of the best in Matsusaka. The marker for the shop is the large wooden 寿し萬 signboard. The shop is arranged with the atmosphere of a simple good old sushi shop. Their ingredients are mainly local ones from the Iseshima area including Matsusaka. The owner's recommendation are raw beef nigiri sushi using marbled Matsusaka beef, conger eel sushi prepared with traditional methods, and inarizushi (sushi rice wrapped in fried tofu). The restaurant also offers abalone, famous as the blessing of Iseshima. There is a bargain lunchtime set menu available.

Senriki is a Yakiniku (grilled meat) restaurant that serves only Matsusaka beef. It is located an eight-minute walk from JR and Kintetsu Matsusaka Station. The restaurant buys high-quality whole Matsusaka heifers of the A4 and A5 grade, and the meat it serves is characterized by the fine marbling typical of Matsusaka beef. Since the restaurant buys an entire animal, its dishes of fresh Matsusaka beef organ meats are some of its popular menu items, including some that are rare and are hardly ever seen on the market. Reasonably priced prix fixe meals are available at lunchtime. The meat can be packaged as gifts, and it is also used as a gift in return for tax-deductible donations to Matsusaka City..
