Ise Kadoya is a long-established teahouse founded in 1575, and now produced local beer that represents Ise such as Shinto Beer and Ise Kadoya Pale Ale. The directly-managed store is located immediately outside of Ise Jingu Shrine's outer shrine. They sell sake available for purchase as souvenirs, and barrel craft draft beer for walk and drink. There is also a set menu where you can drink and compare four different types of local Ise beer, making it a shop beer lovers enjoy themselves. In addition to alcohol, they offer snacks including Niken Chaya Mochi (rice cakes with bean paste filled and dusted in kinako soybean powder) famous from when it was a teahouse, so it is somewhere those who do not drink can come to.

  • Iseman Naiku Mae Japanese Sake Factory
    Travel / Tourism
    Mie Ise-shi Ujinakanokiricho 77-2
"This brewery makes Iseman Shuzo's Okagesama, a sake whose name was inspired by the historic ""Okage-mairi"" mass pilgrimages to the Ise Jingu shrine in the Edo period. Situated in a town which grew up around the shrine and commanding a view of the lush cedar forest on its grounds, the brewery has a shop which sells seishu refined sakes, shochu distilled spirits, liqueurs, and more. The brewery's Ginjo Okagesama, made with underground water from the Isuzu River which flows through the Naiku inner shrine area of the Ise Jingu shrine, is an exquisite ginjo sake which balances dazzling aroma and flavor. Primarily made by hand and in limited quantities, it can only be purchased here at the brewery and at the company's shop in Iseshima. The back of the shop where customers enter is in fact the brewery itself, and it is known as the smallest sake brewery in Japan."

This shop is owned and operated by Ise Kadoya Beer, a brewery which has been in business for over 400 years. Adjoined by a microbrewery, the shop carries pale ales, Ise pilsners, and other standards, as well as rare, limited run beers. The shop's signature product is Ise Kadoya Pale Ale, a beer with a citrusy aroma and pleasant bitterness which is submitted to international beer competitions every year. A beer born not only through taste testing backed by years of experience but also exceptional, scientific analysis-based quality management, it has even taken first place in the International Brewing Awards.

Mie Areas

Spread across the eastern side of the Kii Peninsula, Mie prefecture boasts hundreds of kilometers of pretty coastline comprising the oyster-rich Toba city and Shima National Park all the way down to Kumano, a city that marks the beginning of part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage, which runs into neighboring Wakayama prefecture. However, Mie is best known for the Ise Jingu Shinto shrine inland, one of the oldest and largest shrines in the country.
