The park that surrounds the lake, Lake Sanaru Park, is famous for its spring cherry blossoms. It hosts the Lake Sanaru Fireworks Display in the summer and the Lake Sanaru International Ekiden Race each May. The lake and its park are visited by many families on weekends and holidays.

    A shrine in Mikumi-cho, Chuo-ku, Hamamatsu City. When Tokugawa Ieyasu moved from Okazaki to Hamamatsu Castle the deity of Mt. Akiha was moved to be closer to the castle. As the god of fire it is said that having his blessing will prevent fires, and shonosai festival (an event of burning old charms or talismans) is held every January and special chinkasai festival (a fire prevention festival) is held every February.

    This dam is located along the Tenryu River in Tatsuyama-cho, Tenryu Ward, Hamamastu City. It was erected in 1958 to adjust the water flowing from the Sakuma Dam located upstream. It is adjacent to 3 spots of dam-and-conduit hydroelectric generation, so it serves to provide energy too. The 1,000 cherry trees planted nearby are called the Akiha Dam Senbon-zakura. Famous for its cherry trees, it is home to the Akiha Dam Sakura Matsuri and the Akiha Dam Sakura Marathon in spring.

    A brewery located in Miyaguchi, Hamana-ku, Hamamatsu City. Founded in 1864, they brew nihonshu like the famous Hana no Mai named for the dedication dance of the Tenryu River area. Free tours are available (reservation required for groups of 10 or more), so you can see the whole process of brewing nihonshu, and even taste-test some freshly-brewed nihonshu.
  • Iinoya Castle Ruins

    These ruins are located in Iinoya, Inasa Town, Hamana-ku, Hamamatsu City. They are the ruins of Iinoya Castle-residence of the Ii family-and are known for their connection to Naotora Ii. The entire area has been turned into a castle hill park. In spring, it is one of the sites for the Lake Okuhamanako Cherry Blossom Festival and features illuminated cherry trees.
  • Rinzaishu Daihonzan Houkouji Temple

    This temple is located in Okuyama, Inasa Town, Hamana-ku, Hamamatsu City. It was opened by the hands of a monk, Mumongen Senzenji and a local lord, Okuyama Rokurojiro Tomofuji in 1371. The main object of worship, a Gautama triad called Wooden statues of Shaka-Nyorai and Flanking attendants, is designated as a National Important Cultural Property. The temple is also known for the 500 Rakan statues scattered throughout the precinct.

    Located a one-minute walk from Araimachi Station. One of the seven rent-a-cycle terminals on Lake Hamana Cycling Road, a cycling course that allows you to make a round trip around the Lake Hamana. It is divided into a general cycling course and an advanced cycling course, so not only people who want to enjoy cycling in earnest but also those who are not confident about their physical strength can enjoy a real ride. Due to its ease of access, it is appropriate place for starting one's ride. Customers may leave their rented bicycle at another terminal, but in that case, their security deposit is not returned.

    Located a 40-minute drive from the Hamamatsu Nishi Interchange, this cycling terminal is inside Imagire Taiken no Sato, Kaikokan in Araiumizuri Park. One of the seven rent-a-cycle terminals on Lake Hamana Cycling Road, a cycling course that allows you to make a round trip around the Lake Hamana. Its schedule of operations and closing follows that of Kaikokan. Customers may leave their rented bicycle at another terminal, but in that case, their security deposit is not returned. A special attraction of this terminal is that it offers a barbecue area and craft classes in addition to renting bicycles.

    Located a 10-minute drive from Araimachi Station. Starting at the the Okurado Interchange Iriguchi Intersection and driving east on Prefectural Route 417, visitors will see the parking lot of this orchard on the left side of the road, marked by a signboard with strawberry cartoon character. Visitors can enjoy picking strawberries from late December till early May of the following year, but groups of twenty or more must make reservations, while smaller groups are accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis. Since the strawberries are grown on elevated cultivation beds, visitors can pick and eat as many as they like within 30 minutes without crouching. Condensed milk is on sale, but visitors may also bring their own, and they can buy strawberries to take home at the orchard office.

    The Tateyama-ji Onsen Bicycle Rental Terminal is located in the Kanzanji Onsen Tourist Association and is open 24 hours a day as a stopover point for cyclists, with restrooms, beverage vending machines, car parking, coin lockers, etc. Because of the relatively mild climate in Tateyama-ji Onsen, even in winter, it is a year-round cycling destination. For this reason, bicycles can be rented at any of the city's seven terminals, and bicycles can be dropped off between terminals for a guaranteed fee.

    This 113-meter-high mountain is located on the shore opposite Kanzanji Onsen. An observatory on top of the mountain is connected via ropeway to the Hamanako Palpal amusement park at the foot, and from here visitors can get a sweeping view encompassing the Enshu Sea and even Mt. Fuji. Towering on a peninsula jutting out from the northeast shore of Lake Hamana, it is believed the mountain was formed via a rocky mountain consisting of the Chichibu Belt layer accumulated some 200 to 400 million years ago which protruded out to form an island. Part of the Mikatahara gravel bed can be seen at the foot of the mountain. The mountain is covered in Japanese red pine and there are walking paths, and visitors can go on a relaxing nature walk.

    This marine activity and tour company operates from the Lake Hamana Marina Cruise Boat Port and the Marine Gate passenger terminal on the grounds of Hamanako Palpal. The company offers speedboat tours and parasailing as well as chartered cruises, sightseeing cruises, and other marine leisure activities. The company's parasailing activities take you 40 to 80 meters into the air and are a seven-minute-long aerial journey with a 360-degree, panoramic view of Lake Hamana below. The company even has special harnesses for children, and kids as young as three years old can go on a flight with a parent or guardian. Parasailers take off from and land back on the deck of a special boat, enabling you to go on a flight wearing without even having to change your clothes.

    This tourist farm is located east of Hamamatsu Flower Park. Here visitors can enjoy strawberry picking from January through May, and melon picking from July to the end of August. The strawberries the farm grows are Akihime, perhaps Shizuoka's most well-known variety. Akihime strawberries are known for their lack of tartness, tender flesh, and long and narrow shape. All of the farm's choice berries are soil cultivated in greenhouses using rice husks, rice bran, and other organic fertilizers, ensuring they are safe and healthy to eat. Melon picking is reservation-only; participants can pick the melon they think looks the best and take it home with them to enjoy.

    This rental cycle terminal is located in Bentenjima Seaside Park, which commands a view of the area's blue ocean as well as its famous red torii gate. Located close to JR train stations, the terminal rents city bicycles, mini velos, and mountain bikes. Bicycle paths are maintained along parts of Lake Hamana's complex shore, making it a perfect cycling destination. There are seven rental cycle terminals around Lake Hamana, and, after paying a security fee, you can leave your bike at any of the terminals when you are done riding. Lake Hamana is roughly 82 kilometers in circumference and can be ridden around in about six hours.

    "This art museum, a 10-minute drive from Hamamatsu Station, can be identified by its blue sign. Opened in 1989, the museum displays a collection assembled across two generations between Soun Hirano and his son, Ken; men who loved art so much, they've taken up the brush themselves. The core of the museum's over 2,000-piece collection consists of paintings spanning Buddhist images from the Kamakura period to Nihonga Japanese paintings from the modern day. The museum has no standing exhibition space and, as such, the contents on display changes with each new exhibition. The museum's expansive collection covers everything from Western paintings to modern art, and is known to locals as the ""art museum in the middle of town."""

The shop carries staple Hamamatsu souvenirs as well as famous sweets and confections from longstanding establishments, plus much more. Situated in front of the Shinkansen ticket gate, the shop is a convenient place to visit when you don't have much time or just realized you forgot to buy something. In addition to Unagi Pie pastries, a Hamamatsu souvenir that's sure to please, other popular products sold in the shop include Genji Pie Piano Black, a Genji Pie version made with chocolate mixed into the dough that is only available in Shizuoka; and Daisakyu Cheese, an exquisite balance of sponge cake and cheese cream.

    This memorial forest is situated along the Tenryu Super Forest Road, which starts at Higashiunna in Tenryu Ward and continues on to Misakubo Dam. The vast, 95-hectare forest sprawls around 1,351-meter-high Mt. Ryuto. The forest is divided into three areas - the Somabito no Mori area, the site of hinoki cypress and Japanese cedar trees over 90 years old; the Yacho no Mori area, which consists of evergreen broad-leaved forest where you can see many wild birds; and the Shugen no Mori, which consists of mixed deciduous broad-leaved forest and evergreen broad-leaved forest. In each area, you can take in an abundance of natural beauty. Universal design principles have been employed to ensure that as many people as possible can enjoy the forest in safety and comfort, and facilities include gently sloping walking paths, a craft hut, forest clearing, and observatory.
