    This art museum is located near the Azumino City Hall Toyoshina office. It features approximately 2,000 of painter Yoshihei Miya’s works, some of which inspired Mori Ogai’s novels. There are also about 200 works by Hiroatsu Takata, a giant of Japanese modern sculpture, and about 170 sketches by Kuni Kobayashi. The regular exhibitions aim to showcase the artists’ entire careers. There’s also a free garden modeled after a medieval monastery.

    松林にある、小さな山小屋美術館ですが、山の絵を中心に展示された作品は興味深かったです。風景画がお好きな方にもオススメの美術館です。

You’ll also find Takahashi’s parents’ home, which is a Registered Tangible Cultural Property and can give you an idea about what life in Azumino was like at the time.

    安曇野I.Cで降りて、15分ぐらいのところにありました。入館料は400円と安いですが、なかなか見応えのある展示物でした。

    静かな美術館でした。所蔵、展示作品はあまり多くはないですが、作品と美術館の雰囲気がマッチして楽しめました。 安曇野からの雄大な山岳風景画など大きな作品が多く結構迫力ありました。

    The Suwa city museum of ART is in a space converted from what used to be a “Memorial Hall” for Katakura Industries, which was built in 1943. It is Nagano Prefecture’s first public art museum. The museum opened in 1956 and is registered as a Tangible Cultural Property. It has a collection of nearly 1,400 items mainly focused on modern art, including works by artists both local and celebrated nationwide. It’s about a seven-minute walk from the west exit of JR Kami-Suwa Station.

Located at the foot of Mt. Yatsugatake, this art museum is at harmony with the surrounding environment and is famous for its unique exhibits on local artists, modern art, architecture, design, and more. It’s about one hour by car from the Sutama Interchange on the Chuo Expressway.

    The Obuse Museum / Nakajima Chinami Kan opened in 1992, and they store and display collections by modern Japanese painter Chinami Nakajima in the “Nakajima Chinami Kan” building, as well as traditional “matsuri yatai (festival stalls),” Obuse cultural artifacts. The trees in the area display the beauty of the four seasons, and the “Hanasaku Burari Art Museum” certainly lives up to its name. It’s about 12 minutes on foot from Obuse Station on the Nagano Line and about five minutes from the Obuse Smart Interchange on the Joshin-Etsu Expressway.

    We enjoyed the variety of artwork on display - a great collection. Also the flower and orchid added something extra to the visit.

    This facility opened on April 22, 2015 as the second branch of Kitano Art Museum Main Building in Wakahowatauchi, Nagano City. The hexagonal wooden building with a gable roof was designed by the architect Takashi Imazato, who also designed Kokugikan sumo stadium in Ryogoku, Tokyo. The exhibition room holds exhibitions of paintings and sculptures according to the season and also holds various exhibition events. In the museum there is a shop selling Japanese accessories and Japanese-style tableware, as well as a café lounge with magnificent views of Togakushi Alps, and a tea ceremony room with tables and chairs. It is a place disseminating the art of Shinshu and traditional Japanese culture.

    展示イベントが開催されてましたので、初めて訪れました。敷地の空間がとても良かったです。となりには大型ショッピングモールがありますが、景観もそれほど気になりませんでしたし、近くで便利でした。

    Very good museum, with seasonal exhibition. VERY good restaurant there ! and one of the best gardens in Nagano !

It has 11,000 teddy bears from Japan and abroad on view, with enormous dioramas and special manufacturer collections. Their ""Teddy Bear Plaza"" shop is the largest of its kind in Japan. You can visit it without entering the museum."

    We went this museum after we stayed a night at Lake Megami, my wife wanna see the teddy bear. By the time we were there, almost no other visitor but us. And the same lady who sold us the tickets...
