These botanical gardens in Tokyo’s Chofu City are located directly adjacent to Jindaiji Temple. They opened in 1961 as a nursery to cultivate Tokyo’s roadside trees and other plants. Although it is a famous place for plum and cherry blossoms, visitors can also enjoy a variety of flowers and trees throughout the year, such as a rose garden, azaleas featuring 280 varieties and 12,000 plants, and a large greenhouse where visitors can view approximately 1,300 types of plants. In the spring and autumn the gardens are bustling with many visitors that come for the Bara Festa, a rose festival with more than 5,000 roses on display.

Tokyo Areas

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
