Hokkaido Obihiroshi Bieichou West 4 Line 107
This garden comprised of expansive flower fields extends along Tokachiheiya’s rural area in the outskirts of Obihiro. This park was created when gardener Akiyo Shichiku was 63 years old. Shichiku, who has a long-standing love of flowers, felt that she wanted to create a landscape where the wildflowers she played in as a child would bloom. All of the plants inside the 4,950 square meters of land that includes assorted trees from Hokkaido such as Japanese white birch and magnolia as well as more than 2,500 types of flowers were planted by Shichiku, and seeing the appearance of the garden change each season is a soothing sight to behold. The park has a restaurant and a horticulture shop.

I visit this garden during autumn, not many flowers are blooming , but I can imagine how it's gonna be look like during spring and summer. the story behind this garden is very romantic and full of...

The colorful flower gardens of Flower Land Kamifurano stand out wonderfully against the backdrop of the majestic Mt. Tokachi. At about 150,000 square meters, the large area is a great place to take a leisurely stroll or have a go on one of their popular tractor rides. You can also have a go at making pillows using lavender potpourri and making potpourri pouches among other activities.

Flower types not as spectacular as compare to other farms but the cafe selling the white corn and melon is must try.

    Hokkaido Sorachigunnakafuranochou Miyamachi 1-14
A symbol of Nakafurano Town, this lavender garden covers Mt. Hokusei which becomes a ski resort during the winter. If you go to the top on the lift you can see four different kinds of lavender, as well as some colorful marigolds, and salvia splendens covering the mountainside. You can really appreciate the true beauty of nature from here. The lavender park is open from late June through to mid-August.

Since its opening in 1886, the Hokkaido University Botanic Garden has served as both a center for research and a well-loved recreational facility for Sapporo’s citizens. The Botanic Garden contains around 4,000 different plant species; the Museum located within the Botanic Garden has on display a large number of stuffed animal specimens of now-extinct species, including the Hokkaido Wolf and Japanese River Otter. Please note that during the winter months only the Greenhouse is open to visitors.

Decided to take a walk to the Botanic Gardens in Sapporo. 420 yen per person per entry! Gardens not taken care of. Total shambles and in disarray. Waste of time and money. First time I have given...

Hokkaido Kasaigunnakasatsunaimura Tokiwa West 3 rd line 249 - 6
Rokka no Mori is a garden run by Rokkatei, a confectionery manufacturer closely associated with Hokkaido. A wide variety of flowers—including the “Six Flowers of Tokachi” that appear on Rokkatei confectionery wrappers—bloom in the garden at different times of year, making this an extremely beautiful place to visit. With the Naoyuki Sakamoto Commemorative Hall (dedicated to the artist who created the images seen on Rokkatei confectionery wrappers), several art galleries, and a rest house (with restaurant and shop), there is plenty to see and do as you enjoy strolling round the garden. Please note that Rokka no Mori is closed during the winter months.

Of the 7 gardens I visited in Hokkaido, this has to be the highlight. It is a beautiful garden that incorporates a lovely forest, avenues of plants, art huts, a real babbling brook and some amazing...

This is a very sad place for the monkeys. It was summer, so they just sat there on the concrete. They were very annoyed and have no .distraction. No sand, no grass, no trees. And there is also a...

Besides grape vineyards, Furano Grape Hill Park in the Shimizuyama district of Furano City also has lavender fields. The pale purple fields are just exactly the kind of beautiful scene that people associate with Furano. Furano Grape Hill Park is also a popular place to enjoy a meal at the wine production facility or at the nearby wine-lodge.

Ueno Farm was originally an ordinary rice farm. Starting in 1989, when a change in the law made it possible for farmers to sell their rice directly to consumers, Ueno Farm experienced a steady increase in the number of people visiting the farm, and the owner decided that it would be a good idea to plant flowers so that visitors could enjoy strolling round the farm; as a result, Ueno Farm became a place where people can admire different seasonal flowers at different times of year. Today, besides walking round the Farm’s gardens, visitors can also purchase herbs and seedlings grown on the Farm using seeds imported from Europe, and enjoy light meals and desserts made using locally-grown ingredients. The weekend farmers’ market, when neighboring farmers come to sell their vegetables at Ueno Farm, is also a popular event.

A great little place to stop in whilst at Ueno Farm. They have nice ice cream and a local friend suggested I try a coffee variety. I can only describe it as coffee-jelly-ice-cream, which is tastier...

A tulip garden on Cape Saraki famous for its 50 thousand tulips spanning 80 varieties which bloom from April to May each year. Long ago, the Kanrin-maru, the vessel statesman Katsu Kaishu took to the United States, sank near here. The garden got its start when Matsumoto Yoshiyuki, then chairman of the Dutch-Hokkaido Persons Association, learned of this event and purchased and planted tulips, the national flower of the country where the Kanrin-maru was built, to honor the ship's meritorious service and achievements. A Tulip Fair is held in spring and many tourists come here to see the colorful tulips.

Hokkaido Main Areas

around-area-map

Not just a prefecture but an island of its own, Hokkaido is the most northerly prefecture and island of the Japanese archipelago. Arriving in Hokkaido, which is rural and bursting with breathtaking nature, means entering a world where vast national parks, towering mountains, and natural hot springs can be found at every turn. Come December, these natural splendors freeze over and morph into a winter wonderland.
