    As its name states, this garden sprawls in front of the National Diet Building, one of Tokyo's most well-known structures. The garden specifically consists of a Japanese-style south garden on the right side facing away from the diet building, and a Western-style north garden on the other side of a road. The lush garden is 50,000 square meters in size, and numerous eminent personages have made history here between the Edo period and the present day. Some of the garden's many highlights include an estate which belonged to the Ii, the family which produced chief minister Ii Naosuke; over 120 flowering dogwoods which were gifted as a sign of friendship by the United States of America; and a clock tower which symbolizes the separation of the powers of the three branches of government.
