    This theme park featuring flowers and birds is located in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture. In the glasshouse fully equipped with air conditioning you can see flowers like impatiens and water lilies. Furthermore, you can experience interacting with owls, eagles, and other birds. The park is barrier-free, with easy access for strollers and wheelchairs, and is visited by many tourists.

    Overall experience was good. We along with our kid enjoyed a lot. Recommended to visit at least once along with the family.

    A 660 thousand square meter flower garden which makes use of the geography of Nishikigaura, a designated Place of Scenic Beauty in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The facility consists of 12 themed gardens, including an English rose garden, a herb garden, rose valley, and Japanese garden. One of the unique characteristics of the garden is its use of pale roses and other flower varieties in order to better match the scenery of the nearby ocean. The best time to visit is from May to June when some 600 varieties and 4,000 individual rose plants come into bloom. There is also an herb shop modeled after an image of English country life, a workshop, and ocean view restaurant.

    This theme park is located along National Route 139 in Nebara, Fujinomiya City. It exhibits a variety of flowers including 1,200 begonias in its air-conditioned all-weather green house. It also cares for about 100 birds representing around 30 species including owls, penguins, and emus. Visitors can enjoy watching bird shows as well as feeding and interacting with the birds. The park also has a restaurant that serves items such as Fujinomiya yakisoba (a local take on fried noodles) and a shop that offers original owl merchandise and other items.

    This plum garden located in the city of Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture was first opened in 1886 and is famous for its “ume” (or Japanese plum/apricot) trees considered to be the earliest blooming in Japan, and other fall foliage, considered to occur the latest in Japan. In addition to 59 varieties and 472 individual plum trees, the garden is also dotted with some 380 deciduous trees of other species, allowing visitors to enjoy beautiful seasonal scenery while strolling about the grounds. The garden’s “Daiichi-go” (“Number One”) plum tree generally blossoms around late November to early December, while the garden’s various other varieties gradually come into bloom one after the other from January through March. The Atami Baien Festival is held from mid-January to mid-March, and during this time a footbath facility and souvenir shop are opened on the garden grounds. Geisha, rakugo comedic storytelling, and other performances are also held during the festival period.

    A rose garden in Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture with 8,700 roses of 360 varieties from around the world, which you can see blooming all year round. Inside the park, in addition to the rose garden there are a large almost 1,000 square meter greenhouse as well as smaller greenhouses. Festivals are held in the spring and the fall when the roses are at their peak. There are also classes held on how to prune and cultivate roses.

    Shimogamo Tropical Botanical Garden is a 15-minute drive from Shimoda Station right near the Shimogamo Nettai Shokubutsuen Mae bus stop. It is unique for making use of heat from Shimogamo Hot Spring to grow tropical plants in a hothouse. Ever since 2014, admission has been free. Visitors can not only see hibiscus, bougainvillea, and other tropical plants throughout the year but also see many plants that are unique to each of the four seasons. Visitors never get tired of the splendid colors and unusual shapes of these plants. Some plants are available for sale or rent. The onsite parlor sells miracle fruit, sherbet, and fresh fruit juice.

    A French garden located in Kawazu Town, Kamo County, Shizuoka Prefecture which was created as a sister garden to the Bagatelle Park in Paris, France. Past the avenue of trees at the entrance to the park, visitors will find the park’s French Plaza, an area filled with a fountain and small villas modeled after the Palace of Versailles. The park is planted with 1,100 varieties and 6,000 individual rose plants and the bilaterally symmetrical park stretching into the distance looks like something out of an oil painting. There is also a café in the shop which serves popular rose soft serve ice cream and a shop selling rose-themed goods.

    Located in Tanaka, Kawazu Town, the Kawazu Carnation Garden is a facility that undertakes carnation cultivation and research. Kawazu Town and Higashiizu Town between them account for most of Shizuoka Prefecture’s carnation production. At the Kawazu Carnation Garden, visitors can view around 14,000 carnation flowers from approximately 360 varieties (including experimental varieties that are not yet available for purchase anywhere) in the greenhouses.

The garden also has a restaurant where guests can enjoy soba noodles or lily tempura while viewing the quiet lake shore.

In the shop they offer potpourri as well as nearly 50 varieties of dried herbs and herb related products including essential oils. Seeds and seedlings are also available. Hands-on classes are offered where you can learn to make handmade herb soaps and sauces as well as other items.

    This botanical garden is located about a 10-minute drive from Izukyu-Shimoda Station on the Izu Kyuko Line. The garden is situated on Tsumekizaki Cape, a place of scenic beauty on the Suzaki Peninsula known for its colonies of wild daffodils. Visitors can enjoy seeing variety of seasonal flowers in full bloom including buttercups and daffodils from winter to spring, rape blossoms, tulips, daisies, and anemones in the spring, and scarlet sage and sunflowers in the summer. It is also possible to see many different tropical fruits and plants such as banana, papaya, bougainvillea, and takonoki (Pandanus boninensis) in the garden's greenhouse. There is even an unattended shop where visitors can purchase flowers.

    Japan's only bamboo garden, located about a 15-minute drive from the Tomei Numazu Interchange of the Tomei Susono Interchange. About 100,000 plants of some 700 varieties are planted there, and no other bamboo garden in the world boasts so many varieties. Visitors can see exhibits about every aspect of bamboo in the research and museum building: uses of bamboo, efforts to find new uses, methods of preparing bamboo materials, samples of bamboo grass, folk crafts, and tea ceremony implements. Items made of bamboo are also for sale inside the building.

    This plum garden was first cultivated in 1967 for the purpose of growing and selling unripe plums. On the roughly 13 hectare plot of land, about 3,000 plum trees are planted, including Nanko, Kojiro, and Kairyou Uchida plum trees. The peak season is usually from late February to early March. The appearance of the energetically blooming flowers covering the entire mountain in white is grand. There is a hiking trail on the slope of the mountain, so you can take your time strolling through the garden. Additionally, they sell umeboshi (pickled plums), plum jam, and homemade plum jam bread in the garden.

    梅雨の小雨の日に伺いました。ササユリと紫陽花がよい時期でしたが、ほかにもホタルブクロ、オダマキなどいろいろな花が咲いていました。マップにある池はありませんでしたが、雨に濡れて色濃い花を楽しめました。自然環境そのままの植物園ということで、遊歩道はほぼ土なので雨の日には靴に注意しましょう。あと、ササユリの見頃の期間(6月15から30日)は入園無料になるのでおすすめです。

    熱川というと、バナナワニ園くらいしか観光施設を思いつかなかったのですが、ネットで調べた結果、こちら熱川ハーブテラスという施設を見つけました。メインはハーブ園になりますが、関係のお土産もいろいろ売っています。ハーブ系のお店だと、これまでは熱海のアカオハーブ&ローズガーデンにいっていたのですが、一つ選択肢が増えました。
