Because it is so similar to Tosen (ships of Old China), Mount Mifune-yama is also sometimes called Karasen-yama. Mifuneyama Park is located at the foot of the western side of the mountain. Shigeyoshi Nabeshima, lord of the Takeo clan spent three years landscaping this area to build a villa here. In the spring, 2,000 cherry trees and 200,000 azalea flowers come into bloom. It is a sight to behold. Under the blue sky, the colorful azalea flowers spread out like a beautiful patchwork quilt, but when they are lit up at night, the scenery is transformed into something truly magnificent.

    日帰りバスツアーで訪問しました。狸が出たということでポンポコ村という名が付いたそうです。温室の中で何百種類ものベゴニアが美しく咲いていました。

We drove a long way and the park was closed. Suggest to get your hotel concierge to call your touring places before going. It seems that they were closed for maintenance. It’s a beautiful park to...

Saga Main Areas

around-area-map

Away from the fast-paced cities of mainland Japan, Kyushu's Saga prefecture offers quaint towns and cities known for their traditional crafts, particularly ceramics. Rich in kaolin (a type of clay), Saga became the homeland of Arita ware, a delicate, decorative porcelain that is now celebrated worldwide and can be discovered in the towns of Arita, Imari, and Karatsu.
