This approximately 10-meter high tunnel is on a temple approach road, was dug out by hand from the Meiji period (1868?1912) to the Taisho period (1912?1926), and was undercut using Mt. Nokogiriyama stone cutting techniques at the beginning of the Showa period (1926?1989). Travel / Tourism
From Kusasaki-ku, Kawasaki-ku, Chiba Prefecture Ukishima cho from Kisarazu-shi Nakajima
Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line is a 15.1 kilometer long toll road, for cars only, which crosses Tokyo Bay, linking Kisarazu City in Chiba Prefecture with Kawasaki City in Kanagawa Prefecture. From the Kisarazu side, there is a 4.4 kilo meter long bridge, which connects to a roughly 9.5 kilometer long undersea tunnel before reaching the Kawasaki side. On the artificial island at the point where the bridge links to the tunnel, there is a parking and rest area called Umihotaru, one of very few such marine parking areas in the world. From the top level of the Umihotaru building, which was designed to resemble a luxury cruise ship, visitors can enjoy a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view, including Yokohama Bay Bridge, the skyscrapers of Tokyo's Shinjuku district, and even as far as Mt. Fuji.

Chiba Areas

around-area-map

The Boso Peninsula forms the main body of Chiba prefecture, and this is where you’ll find its endless warm water beaches and jagged mountains. Further inland, Narita - most famous as the home of Narita Airport - is a secret haven of tradition and history in the form of centuries-old Shinshoji Temple and quaint wooden Edo buildings. Chiba prefecture is also home to both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
