The spring's waters come from the Shirakami-Sanchi mountains. The spring's name literally translates to ""the Lord's Water"" and is derived from the fact that one of the lords of Tsugaru, stopping here while making the regular journey between his domain and the capital of Edo, praised the spring's flavor."

Not a great place for food. We tried the ramen and it was pretty salty with not much character! The place is also quite run down.

Akita Areas

around-area-map

Famed for its sake and samurai, Akita prefecture offers quintessential Japanese culture in a non-touristy setting. Alongside the celebrated rice paddies and historical sites of the region lies dramatic natural scenery in the form of the rugged coastline of the Oga Peninsula and the Dakigaeri Gorge, best visited in autumn, when the leaves begin to change color.
