Akita Pref. Yuzawashi Minase Aratokoro

Oyasukyo is a famous spot in Kurikoma Quasi-National Park, in Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture. Located in a valley at 60 meter elevation, this hot spring is set apart by the boiling water and steam bubbling forth from bare rock. With its well-maintained trails, you can get a close look at the layers of bedrock holding back intense natural heat, with cracks letting out clouds of steam and hot water. It's also famous for its fall leaf viewing, and its popular sightseeing spot equipped with parking areas.

This is a general purpose facility next to Yokote City Office in Chuo Town, Yokote City. There are a local specialty shop and concert hall inside. They have displays on Yokote traditional kamakura igloo making, and in the kamakura room there's a real Yokote snow-made kamakura igloo on display year-round.

This museum is very small, but a great opportunity to experience the Kamakura if you are not in the season. The people at the reception door was very friendly.

This roadside station is along National Route 46. The direct sales center offers farm products brought fresh every morning. The Iseki Togei no Sato offers pottery classes. And since this is the only rest station on National Route 46, it is popular with long-distance drivers and has a large parking area.

森に囲まれて広々とした道の駅、中で食べても良いのですが天気の良い日はテークアウトして外でアイスをいただく方が気持ちよくて良いですね。店内もかなり広いです。売店の奥にはひっそりとジビエが売っていますが珍しいお肉が多く思わず目に留まり買ってみました。

増田の町並み案内所。こちらは国道342号線ぞいにあり、広めの駐車場があります。車で行かれる場合は、まずこちらに駐車して、案内所でマップをいただいてから散策されることをおすすめします。帰りはこちらでお土産も買えます。トイレあり。

This Roadside Station is along National Route 105 in Daisen City, Akita Prefecture. At the direct sales center Fresh Vegetables Donban, you can buy fresh picked vegetables daily. The shop and restaurant sell goods made with local specialty Tochucha tea and dishes made with Tochu pork. With a rest room and information center, it's popular with locals and tourists alike.

田沢湖から、レンタカーを借りて昼をいただきました。地元産の野菜や花直販、はちみつ、レストランも有って便利です。地元酒蔵が経営する食堂も、美味しかったです。ついでに、酒蔵に行って見学しました。外国人の職員さんが英語で案内していたのは、びっくりしました。酒蔵見学は、なかなか出来ないので、ラッキーな時間(無料・予約お薦め)でした。

Akita Pref. Yuzawashi Maemori 4-3-18

This sake brewery was founded in 1874. It makes Ryozeki Nihonshu using the famous Chikaramizu water that flows from the Mt. Kurikoma mountain system. A tour of the sake brewery is available with a reservation, and tasting is also possible in the sales corner. In addition, there is a Brewery Tour Commemoratory Sake, which can only be purchased in the brewery, that is also very popular.

湯沢にある酒蔵のひとつ。街道ぞいに大きな建物と蔵が並んでいます。国の登録有形文化財に指定されている歴史的建築です。歴史を感じさせる立派な建物です。

Akita Yokote Saiwaicho 2-10

A memorial hall located along Prefectural Route 272 in Saiwai-cho, Yokote City. On display are materials related to novelist Yojiro Ishizaka who worked as a teacher in the Yokote area for nearly 13 years. The building itself is built to resemble a townhouse and storehouse from the early Showa Period.

The Sato Yosuke Flagship shop was founded in 1860, controls every step of the process meticulously, from ingredient selection to shipping, and manages everything in-house for their Inaniwa Dried Udon. At the Flagship Store, not only can you try the shop's products on-site off their full menu, you can also watch the master makers at work on a tour of the factory. There is also an attached tourist information center and shop selling Akita specialties.

佐藤養助さんは、都心に3店ある以外は、全て秋田県内に店舗があり(海外店舗は除く)、なかなか行けなかったんですが、今回は3連休を利用して秋田へ遠征！稲庭うどんは絶品！二味、3玉、天ぷら付きも、アッという間の完食！特にゴマだれツユが、ホント旨かった！紅葉にはまだ早かったけど、ドライブがてら来て正解でした。帰りにお土産も買いました。さて、今夜は温泉でゆっくりします。ごちそうさまでした。

This long-established sake brewery was founded in 1689. It uses water from underground streams in the Ou Mountains to make Hideyoshi Nihonshu. The brewery has a wide range of products such as Daiginjo sake and sparkling seishu. Visitors can take a tour of the brewery, where they can view exhibits of the historic Suzuki family collection, as well as valuable gifts donated by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Oda Nobunaga.

Tours are offered in English or Japanese. Learned all about the sake making process, the history of this brewery, and got to sample some of the sake they make (all were delicious).

A museum located in Maebiraki, shita-gawara, Jinguji, Daisen City. This area is believed to be the birthplace of boy's baseball in Japan and the sport still flourishes here today; in turn, this museum contains exhibits on professional and amateur baseball in Japan and around the world. The museum also has a library and theater room and additionally serves as a multipurpose hall.

This roadside station is along National Route 13. The direct sales center has fresh vegetables and, in season, cherries and apples. The restaurants serve Jumonji Ramen and Yokote Yakisoba, among other Akita low-brown cuisine. Every weekend, there are activities led by local volunteers, and the area is popular as a community spot with locals.

This is Japan's first full-fledged manga museum, located inside Masuda Fureai Plaza in Masuda Town, Yokote City. They showcase work by Masuda-native manga artist Takao Yaguchi as well as original pictures of manga by artists from Japan and overseas. They also run special exhibits, talks by manga artists, and book signings periodically. The museum is closed for renovations until April, 2019.

This roadside station is along National Route 13 in northern Daisen City, Akita Prefecture. It offers a wide variety of fresh local farm goods and products made in collaboration with Aji Douraku no Sato. There is also a rest area, and is a popular local community center. The only Ichirizuka historic distance marker in Akita is nearby.

Akita Yuzawa-shi Daikumachi 4-23

This sake brewery was established in 1922 by key brewers, politicians, businessmen, and other interested parties in the prefecture with the aim of selling smooth, flavorful high-grade sakes across the country. The brewery holds tours; reservations must be made a day in advance for weekday tours and four days in advance for Saturday morning tours. Tours are held year round, but the best time to go is from mid-October to April.

湯沢にある酒蔵のひとつ、美酒爛漫の蔵元です。白井晟一設計の湯沢酒造記念館、四同舎の奥にあります。他の蔵と違って近代的な建物です。

Located about 15 minutes by car from Yokote Interchange on the Akita Expressway, this roadside station is in Misatocho Town, Senboku County, and was the setting for “Gosannen no eki” battle. Its nickname is “Gantaro.” With a vast parking lot fitting 100 vehicles, the fully retro building has a wholesaler and a restaurant. At the wholesaler, you will find specialty goods like akebi vine goods, as well as rice, pickles, and fresh vegetables from Sennan, Misatocho Town. Also, the restaurant has dishes that use Sennan-grown Akita-komachi rice and fresh vegetables.

工芸館の中を見学しているだけで購入意欲が沸々と沸いてくる。伝統工芸品の持つ力強さ、手にすっぽりと収まる形の良さ、日常使いに良い感じの滑らかさ、そこに工芸館職員の上手な説明が入ったらもう駄目です。日常使いをしてこその漆椀、使いこなす程に漆の光沢が輝きを増すと言われました。目の保養とちょっとした贅沢をしてしまいました。

Visitors to this science museum can learn about agriculture and the history of agriculture in Akita, as well as cultivation techniques. It also has exhibits relating to rice production in Akita. The museum is fully equipped with tropical greenhouses, vineyards, orchards and lawns. There are also events such as the Agricultural Science Festival and the Autumn Thanksgiving Festival, which have performances and food samples. The museum draws large crowds, especially local people, on these days.
Former Hongo Family Residence

The former residence of the Hongo family, one of the three largest landlords in Akita during the Meiji period. As the architectural characteristics of each time period from late Edo period to the Showa period are clearly presented in 1996 the main building, western-style building, library, and miso storage were registered as Tangible Cultural Properties of Japan. The houses of these former landowners, the Hongo family, Kitashima family, and Arakawa family, stand in a row and the former Arakawa family residence is now open to the public as an information center for the area.
