    Hokkaido Obihiroshi Midorigaoka 2
An institute of lifelong learning in Obihiro City, Hokkaido. The museum has permanents exhibitions on the culture, history and nature of the Tokachi. Also visit the Riuka Information Center where you can learn more about the history and culture of the Ainu people. There is also a Reserve Cultural Property Center where you can view excavated ruins and relics. The museum is a great location to learn more about Tokachi and Obihiro.

    帯広の歴史や生物の様子を学べる貴重な博物館です。明治以降、随分と苦労して開拓した様子を展示していました。

Hokkaido Obihiro-shi Midorigaoka 2 Obihiro Dobutsuen Nai
This museum is located approximately a two-minute walk from the Dobutsuen-mae bus stop, or five minutes from Midorigaoka 6-Chome. It is a memorial museum located in Obihiro Zoo, inside Midorigaoka Park, and visitors to the museum can also use their entrance fee to enter the zoo. The building itself is styled like a Kamakura residential igloo, and the adventures and achievements of Naomi Uemura, a mountaineer who disappeared while climbing Mt. McKinley are displayed here. There are also exhibits of his writings and possessions, as well as public displays of models.

Hokkaido Areas

around-area-map

Not just a prefecture but an island of its own, Hokkaido is the most northerly prefecture and island of the Japanese archipelago. Arriving in Hokkaido, which is rural and bursting with breathtaking nature, means entering a world where vast national parks, towering mountains, and natural hot springs can be found at every turn. Come December, these natural splendors freeze over and morph into a winter wonderland.
