    This is a memorial hall located in Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, dedicated to the poet of children poems Kaneko Misuzu, and built on the site of Kaneko Buneido where she spent her childhood. Her kimonos and personal belongings are on display. In addition, the museum is designed to replicate the atmosphere of the time she spent there, and visitors can immerse themselves in the world of her stories in the retro atmosphere.

    長門市の仙崎の町中にある金子みすゞ記念館。この記念館がある場所は、金子みすゞが幼少期を過ごした書店、金子文英堂の跡地建てられているそうです。ですから、記念館の上に掲げられている看板には、「金子文英堂」と書かれていました。 入館料はかかりますが、内部には金子みすゞの部屋が再現されていたり、みすゞギャラリーなどがありました。

    This memorial hall has exhibits connected to the kaiten, a torpedo shaped special weapon, built in the remains of barracks once used by former kaiten trainees and staff. Stone monuments are lined up at the entrance, and inside panels introduce kaiten history, and lives of those involved in it. There are around 1,000 items connected to the staff in the collection. There are also dioramas recreating the base, and films of the staff speaking at the time.

    Having lived in Yamaguchi prefecture many years ago, I had heard of the museum but never thought to go there. Finally 30 years later, for a ALT 30 year reunion, we took the ferry to spend time there...

    This is a memorial museum located in Yamaguchi City, the birthplace of the poet, Chuya Nakahara. It has been built on the site of the Nakahara clinic, Chuya’s childhood home. The museum exhibits manuscripts and personal belongings of Chuya Nakahara. There is a permanent exhibition where visitors can view books on the first floor, and visitors can enjoy CDs, a document search room and special exhibitions on the second floor.

    展示品など多すぎず、ちょうどよく感じました。 この時代の文芸作家たちとの交流、彼の人生の経過も書かれていて、作品と言うより彼の人生について知ることが出来たと思います。

    "This museum located in Oshima County, Yamaguchi Prefecture, exhibits documents, items and relics from the salvaged ""Battleship Mutsu"". Visitors can also view the bow and propeller in the outdoor exhibition. There is also a memorial monument erected on a spot overlooking the sea and many tourists visit the museum."

    記念館、水族館、キャンプ場、公園などが整備されています。周防大島の東になります。9月の4連休で尋ねたときにはたくさんの人がテントを張ってくつろいでいました。屋外に大きな飛行機が展示されて迫力があります。少し雨風で汚れているので、ピカピカにしたら素晴らしいのにと思いました。

    A memorial hall in Amidaiji-cho, Shimonoseki City. It's dedicated to Yoshie Fujiwara, the world-renowned singer from Shimonoseki. Reservations are required when visiting. The building was constructed as the home for the son of the president of Holme Ringer & Co., a British trading company. It was later the official residence of the British consul.

    世界的なオペラ歌手であった藤原義江の記念館。日清講和会議が開かれた春帆楼から山沿いに続く李鴻章道の上に建っています。かつて英国系商社ホーム・リンガー商会の社長令息の住宅でシンプルな外観の建物です。下関が生んだダンディー歌手の歌声が館内に流れています。

    This museum is located in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and exhibits pottery wares of the famed Hagi-yaki potter Taibi Yoshika and local ceramic artists. In addition, watercolor paintings, pottery tools and raw materials, etc. are displayed. Events such as Hagi-yaki pottery experience programs, to promote culture, are also held.

    吉賀大眉記念館は、その名の通り萩焼の名陶芸家吉賀大眉さんや萩にゆかりのある作品を収集した美術館で、東萩駅より自動車で5分ほどの場所にあります。上品な特徴を持つような萩焼の美しさを堪能することができて、特に花器や古来の作品で出土されたような作品なんか、歴史の重みを感じます。

Visitors can experience the work of Tetsuro Hoshino in various forms. The museum also presents exhibitions based on his music works."

    隣が民俗学者の宮本常一の記念館です。これは小学校の体育館のようなイメージですが、星野哲郎の記念館は、モダンな美術館のイメージですね。皆が知っている歌をたくさん作っていますので、周防大島に行ったらぜひ尋ねたい場所です。

    Yamaguchi Hofu-shi Hamakata 381-3
    Hofu, located in central region of Yamaguchi prefecture, prospered for nearly 260 years from the mid-Edo period to the 1950s as Japan's top salt producing region. They've restored a traditional Irihama-style saltpan facility in one part of the site of the salt field and you can learn how salt is made. The towering chimneys still stand over the park letting you imagine the trials and tribulations of salt production. With at least one-week prior reservation you can also experience for yourself some of the processes of making Mitajiri salt using the traditional Irihama-style manufacturing methods.

    入場料はかかるが、展示室をみた後で、スタッフの人が屋外の塩田再現体験施設を逐一説明してくれた。時間は展示室を含め、1時間以上かかったが、塩田による製塩法、他の製塩法との違い、長州藩との関係等、とてもよく理解できた。本当は実際に体験できれば良いが、これだけでも十分だった。以前、広島の竹原の塩田の展示施設に寄ったことがあるが、写真と説明書きと当時の道具の展示だけで、よく分からなかった。再現施設を見なが...

    A museum on National Route 9 in Amidaiji-cho, Shimonoseki City. It has exhibits on the Nisshin Peace Conference held at the end of the First Sino-Japanese War in 1895, and the Treaty of Shimonoseki signed as a result. Located adjacent to the Shimonoseki Shunpanro where the negotiations were held, it also has a reproduction of the conference hall.

    This museum is located about a five-minute drive from Nagatoshi Station. It introduces the achievements and personalities of Seifu Murata and Masanosuke Sufu, two local wise men who played a central role in reforming clan politics during the turbulent political situation at the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate, through their belongings and other materials. In the main building, which was newly opened in 2018, the lives of the artists are introduced in panels with cartoons, and it is enjoyed for being easy to understand. Production tools (for rice, paper, salt and wax) and folk materials are also on display, allowing visitors to experience the history of the local industry and the lives of the people of that time.
