- (Provided by service)Osaka Castle was built by the Imperial Regent Toyotomi Hideyoshi between 1583 and 1598. The castle was built on a magnificent scale, but was destroyed just 17 years later after the death of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the destruction of the Toyotomi clan in the Siege of Osaka in 1615. Thereafter, the castle was rebuilt by the Tokugawa shogunate under the command of Todo Takatora but was once again lost due to a fire caused by a lightning strike. The current castle tower is the third generation to stand here and was completed in 1931 through donations from local citizens. The interior of the castle is a history museum and visitors can enjoy information about the history of Osaka Castle and dioramas. The castle was registered as a national Tangible Cultural Property in 1997.

This is an area for young people which has about 2,500 shops lined up which have developed into selling unique merchandise such as many second hand clothes shops, fashion shops and record stores. Sankaku Koen (Triangle Park) where young people get together has become a symbol of Americamura (America Village). In addition to being a place to meet up or have a rest, there are also events occasionally held here and it is always busy with young people who are aiming at being musicians or dancers. And one of the highlights is also the creative items of artwork.

The main keep which was constructed in 1598 was designated a National Treasure in 1931, but was destroyed by the atomic bombing. The exterior was restored in 1958 with a ferro-concrete structure. In 1989, as the castle welcomed 400 years of history, the ni-no-maru was restored, the moat was cleaned, and the interior was remodeled, and now it is used as a history museum with the theme of samurai culture.

Shukkeien was created in 1620 by Ueda Shigeyasu, a high-ranking retainer in the service of the Asano Clan who was also a renowned master of tea ceremony, to serve as a villa for Asano feudal lords. It is said that the garden is a condensed version modeled on the scenic beauty of China’s West Lake and the garden’s name is derived from this meaning “condensed scenery garden”. The garden is picturesque with an island floating in the pond, mountains, valleys, and elegant tea ceremonial houses. In “Sensuitei” near the entrance you can enjoy matcha green tea and light refreshments.

- Toyokuni Shrine Five-storied Pagoda
- 11:05
- 30min
- (Provided by service)This five-tier red pagoda stands on a hill near the Honden front shrine of Itsukushima Shrine. The 27.6-meter-tall tower is located next to Toyokuni Shrine (location of the Senjokaku Pavilion). Skillfully blending Japanese and Chinese design aspects, the tower was built in 1407. Inside, the ceiling is painted with a dragon, while outside the ceilings have been painted with grapevine scrollwork and vivid patterns. The pagoda’s central pillar notably only extends up to the second tier in a design which helps prevent the tower from being toppled by strong winds. The pagoda used to enshrine the temple’s principal object of worship, a statue of Gautama Buddha; as well as statues of the bodhisattvas Samantabhadra and Manjushri, but these were moved to the Daiganji Temple on the opposite shore during the anti-Buddhism movement of the Meiji period. Today, the pagoda has been designated a National Important Cultural Property.

The temple was founded in 1339 by Ashikaga Takauji to memorialize Emperor Go-Daigo. The temple was founded as the first of the five Kyoto Gozan premier temples and the spacious grounds encompassed over 150 sub-temples, but these were all lost in a series of later fires. The various temple buildings standing today were reconstructed in the Meiji period; the abbot’s chamber enshrines a seated figure of Gautama Buddha created in the Fujiwara period. The temple’s circular garden, built around a central pond, is a designated Historic Site and Special Place of Scenic Beauty and makes use of Mt. Arashiyama and Mt. Kameyama in the background. The garden looks the same as it did approximately 700 years ago when it was first created by Muso Kokushi.

This brilliant architecture was a symbol of Kitayama culture but burned down in a 1950 fire, then was rebuilt in 1955. In 1994 it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The market evolved out of a rice market, mulberry leaf market and flower market held in the area in the Edo period (1603-1868); by the middle part of the Meiji period (1868-1912), it had evolved into a ""Morning Market"" in which vegetables were laid out for sale. Today, a range of local specialty products-including vegetables such as Hida spring onions and waxy corn, which are traditional foods in the Hida region, as well as Mitarashi Dango rice-dumplings, which are marinated in soy sauce repeatedly before cooking, and which, unlike most Dango, are not sweet-can be found together crowded together. The Miyagawa Morning Market is ranked as one of the top three best morning markets in Japan, and has become one of Takayama City's major tourist attractions."

- (Provided by service)Running from Kaminarimon Gate to Senso-ji, this is one of Japan’s oldest shopping streets with a length of more than 250 meters. There are numerous shops along both sides of the street offering famous Tokyo sweets such as kibidango (millet dumplings), kushidango (mochi dumplings on skewers), ningyo-yaki (sponge cakes in various shapes filled with red bean paste) and kaminari-okoshi (sweet rice crackers) as well as souvenirs geared towards foreign tourists, and here visitors can really enjoy the atmosphere of a Japanese shitamachi (downtown neighborhood). The electric signboards that are beautifully uniform are a must-see.

A number of historical remains and vestiges of Edo Castle can be seen in the East Garden, including part of the Tenshu-dai (the foundation platform for the castle’s main tower), the Ote-mon Gate, the Hyakunin Bansho guardhouse, etc., and as a result the East Garden attracts large numbers of both overseas and domestic tourists. The East Garden also has a wealth of natural beauty, including the “Prefectural Trees” presented to the Garden by every prefecture in Japan, making it a popular place for a stroll or just to sit and relax.

- (Provided by service)This shrine located in Soto-Kanda in Tokyo’s Chiyoda City boasts close to 1,300 years of history. In the past, this shrine was revered as the Edo Sochinju (the center place to pray for local gods) with a Soujigami (general local Shinto deity) that was the patron of Tokyo’s 108 towns. There are many commemorative photo spots including the impressive Shaden (main building) built in 1934 that is completely covered in bright vermillion as well as the “Chikara Ishi,” which is a big stone that was used by young people in competitions to show off their strength. The enshrined deities are Okuninushi no Mikoto (Daikokuten), Sukunahikona no Mikoto (Ebisu), and Taira no Masakado. The Kanda-matsuri festival held around mid-May is counted as one of the three largest Edo festivals. The shrine has even become famous in recent years for collaborations with anime works.
