The water off the beach is crystal-clear, and contrasts beautifully with the coloration of the deeper water further out to sea. The fine-grained sand and crystal-clear water combine to make this a very popular beach. There are two entrances to the beach, on the west and east sides; each of these areas has its own unique appeal. Okinawa Miyako-gun Tarama Mura Shiokawa
This beach is located just east of Maedomari Port on northern Tarama Island, which lies between Ishigaki Island and Miyako Island. The beachgoing season officially starts at the beginning of April each year. Access to the beach from the island's urban area is excellent due to its location next to the port. Thanks to the island's small population of only about 1,000 people, visitors can leisurely enjoy the views of beautiful clear waters without many signs of human presence. The combination of the extensive coral reefs the surround the island and its long sandy beaches make the island incredibly scenic on clear days.

A world away from the high intensity of Tokyo, Okinawans appear to live a laid-back beach life on this paradisiacal tropical island that lies in the middle of the East China Sea almost 1,000 kilometers south of mainland Japan’s most southern tip. Home to a spattering of islands, prepare yourself to discover underwater caves, star-shaped sand, and an island culture sometimes unrecognizable from mainland Japan.
