- Oita Usa-shi Iwahoshinden 129-3
- This seaside park, a 30-minute drive from the Innai Interchange on the Higashikyushu Expressway (Usa-Beppu Road), is situated on the eastern side of the Buzen Sea coast, known as one of Japan's three best tidelands. A continuous stretch of shallow beach, during low tides, a large part of the tideland is exposed, making it perfect for gathering Japanese littleneck clams, razor clams, and other shellfish. Clamming season is from April 1 to September 30. Those who wish to go clamming must first apply at the park's administration building. From June onward, clamming may be prohibited depending on factors such as the condition of tidelands shellfish, and as such prospective visitors are recommended to check with park management before coming. Visitors can also enjoy barbecuing on the coast, and the park even offers equipment rentals.

Oita Areas
A trip to Oita is tantamount to a long soak in the Beppu baths. The mountainous, coastal prefecture of Oita is renowned for having more onsen than any other prefecture in Japan, most of which lie in the city of Beppu on the west coast of Kyushu, recognizable by its pungent sulphuric aroma and the clouds of steam that puff up across the hillside. Away from the Beppu hot springs await mountains, waterfalls, and temples, so don’t hesitate to explore Oita a little further.
