1個から販売していただけて、冷たいお茶を「暑いからね、飲んでくださいね」とその場で食べない自分にもお気遣いいただきました。ホカホカのいきなり団子もとても美味しかったです。

- Kumamoto Aso-gun Minamiogunimachi Kurokawa Onsen Kawabata Dori 6600-2
- This Japanese-style sweets cafe is situated along Kawabata-dori Street, the main street in Kurokawa Onsen. Adorned with red noren shop curtains and decked out in pure Japanese decor, the cafe serves orthodox shiratama rice flour dumpling desserts made exclusively with mochi glutinous rice from Aso. The popular Yuagari Shiratama comes with shiratama dumplings served in piping hot water that you scoop out and sprinkle with kinako toasted soybean flour and sweet azuki beans before eating. The shop's vaunted shiratama dumplings are renowned for their smooth, slippery surface and addictive springy, chewy texture. The cafe also offers seasonal varieties such as Hanami Shiratama (flower-watching dumplings) in spring, and Kori Shiratama (shaved ice dumplings) in summer.

- This Japanese-style sweets cafe/shop was established in the early Meiji period. Situated along the road leading to the Fujisaki Hachimangu Shrine and identifiable by the red Japanese-style parasol out front, the cafe sells and serves its signature kusaha mochi rice cakes, sekihan red rice with sweet beans, seasonal okowa glutinous rice with beans, and other Japanese-style sweets. The cafe has an eat-in space where customers can enjoy a bowl of zenzai sweet azuki bean soup or zoni rice cakes and vegetables soup while taking in a seasonal view of the cafe's garden. In summer, the cafe offers and shaved ice. The matcha green tea the cafe serves is Seikaihaku from longstanding Kyoto tea dealer Kitagawahanbee Syouten in Uji. This tea has a smooth flavor that goes perfectly with the cafe's sweets.
