    Hyogo Kobe-shi Chuo-ku Nakayamatedori 7-3-2
"This eclectic temple features traditional Japanese architecture and Chinese design and styling. The main deity honored is Guan Yu, a famous military commander from the Sangokushi (Annals of the Three Kingdoms). It also honors Kannon, the goddess of mercy, and Maso, the queen of heaven. The framed plaque on the main gate, the temple's symbol, was created by the world-famous calligrapher Yu Youren. The temple has a thoroughly Chinese atmosphere with features like an inner gate modeled on a Chinese legend ""Toryumon"" which means ""gateway to success"" and the roof of the main temple with the same imperial-colored roof tiles as the Forbidden City in Beijing and statues of blue dragons."

    Hyogo Pref. Koubeshi Chuou-ku Fukiaichou
The collective name for four waterfalls (Ontaki, Mentaki, Meotodaki, and Tsutsumigadaki) along the Nunobiki mountain stream on Mt. Rokko, the falls are considered on the three most sacred waterfalls in Japan. The Ontaki, 43 meters tall, is particularly impressive, dropping down and switching its direction in five stages from a rock cropping. Each stage has a cauldron-like basin which legend says leads to the Palace of the Dragon King under the sea. The falls have also been selected as one of the 100 most beautiful waterfalls in Japan.

"The only venue in Japan to honor Sun Yat-sen, the Chinese revolutionary, politician, and thinker. With its octagonal pavilion as its symbol and a backdrop of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the facility showcases the relationship between Japan, Kobe, and Sun Yat-sen. It's villa, Ijokaku, recalls earlier times. It was built by Gokindo, a Kobe trader in 1915. People generally call it ""Maiko's Rokkakudo"" because it looks hexagonal. Visit to see valuable documents written by Sun Yat-sen as well as books about him. The building was designated as a national Important Tangible Cultural Property in 2001, recognizing its cultural value."

This shrine is located in front of Tarumi Station in the Miyamoto-cho area of Tarumi-ku, Kobe City. The Three Watatsumi Gods, Sokotsuwatatsumi, Nakatsuwatatsumi and Uwatsuwatatsumi are revered as sacred gods of voyage safety, fishery prosperity and traffic safety, and the Maritime Safety Festival is held every year on October 12.

Watatsumi Shrine (I mistakenly read Umi Shrine) is a historical and prestigious shrine just beside JR/Sanyo Tarumi station. It is said that Jingu Kogou founded it about 1800 years ago. On the left...

It’s always bustling with people eating takeout, taking a rest, and so on. It’s also a famous spot for taking photos. Various seasonal events are held here as well, such as the Chinese New Year Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival. The nearest station is Motomachi Station.

"This Jodo Shinshu Honganji Buddhist temple, located a one-minute walk from Kobe Rapid Transit Railway Hanakuma Station, is a branch temple directly under the Nishihonganji Temple in Kyoto City. The temple's novel, Indian Buddhist design is inherited from the previous temple building which was built in 1930; due to its design, locals call it the ""Modern Temple."" The current temple building was completed after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake; the large structure is outfitted with a variety of facilities and features, including a multipurpose hall. At the request of the Kobe City government, the building is also lit up at night as an initiative to lead reconstruction and recovery efforts in the area."

"A Shinto shrine located a five-minute walk from the ""Kano-cho 3-Chome"" bus stop and an eight-minute walk from Sannomiya Station. According to records, Empress Jingu stopped to worship at the shrine when she built Ikuta Shrine in 201. The shrine is dedicated to Amenooshihomimi, eldest son of Amaterasu Omikami. The shrine is primarily believed to grant worshippers luck in achieving victory and is known to locals as ""Masakatsu-san."" ""Ninomiya"" means ""Second Shrine,"" and Kobe is dotted with eight similarly named shrines, from Ichinomiya (""First Shrine"") to Hachinomiya (""Eighth Shrine""). Walking the pilgrimage route connecting these eight shrines is said to grant the walker long life, good health, and easy childbearing."

This is a western-style building relocated in Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, originally built in the old foreign settlement as an apartment catering to foreigners in 1908. It is a unique building where two Western-style buildings are symmetrically connected, and because of this became known as the “Western row house”. The interior is unified with French furnishings and artworks, and on display are Art Nouveau works by Emile Galle, the Dome brothers as well as a painting by Chagall. A must see is an early era trunk of the popular “Louis Vuitton” brand.

This gable roof Western-style residence was built in the latter part of the Meiji period, and it is also referred to as the “old Furyuga house.” When the Port of Kobe was opened, this place served as a bustling members-only social club for foreign residents, and it has been reconstructed for modern visitors. There are many stately and luxurious furnishings that exude the former elegant atmosphere even now. Must-see sights include a fireplace used during the Bourbons reign and an old firewood-style kitchen, an antique organ, a musical score from the Renaissance Period, a 19th-century horse carriage, and more.

An ancient Tendai Buddhist temple founded in the distant Nara period by Joue, eldest son of Fujiwara no Kamatari. The temple is located five minutes drive east of the Zenkai interchange on the Hanshin Expressway No. 7 Kita-Kobe Route. The temple's current buildings were all rebuilt in 1285 or after, but many of the structures on the grounds are historically valuable architectural examples, such as the temple's main temple building, a National Treasure which hints at the prosperity the temple enjoyed during the Nanboku-cho period when it was built. 18 other structures and temple treasures have been designated National Important Cultural Properties, including the temple's Deva gate, built in the mid-Muromachi period; and an early Kamakura period seated statue of Amitabha. Primeval forest surrounds the temple, which is a renowned destination for cherry blossom viewing in the spring and fall foliage in autumn.
