"This Jodo Shinshu Honganji Buddhist temple, located a one-minute walk from Kobe Rapid Transit Railway Hanakuma Station, is a branch temple directly under the Nishihonganji Temple in Kyoto City. The temple's novel, Indian Buddhist design is inherited from the previous temple building which was built in 1930; due to its design, locals call it the ""Modern Temple."" The current temple building was completed after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake; the large structure is outfitted with a variety of facilities and features, including a multipurpose hall. At the request of the Kobe City government, the building is also lit up at night as an initiative to lead reconstruction and recovery efforts in the area."

浄土真宗西本願寺本派のお寺ですが、お寺っぽくないモダンな建物なので、地元ではモダン寺と呼ばれています。JR神戸から東行きの電車に乗ると車窓からチラッと見えますが、近くまで行くととても大きく立派な建物です。自由に参拝できます。
港町神戸らしいエキゾチックな建物

高速神戸線花隈駅から山手の方へ少し登ると、エキゾチックな建物が眼に飛び込んでくる。何かと思えば、本願寺の文字が。その意外さに築地本願寺を彷彿とさせる。隣はお風呂屋さん(銭湯)という下町っぽい街並みに異彩を放つこと絶大である。
デカすぎ！

4月中旬福岡からの観光客として初体験しました。ロケーションはJR花隈駅のすぐ山手。別院というだけあって非常に立派な外観。もちろん激写を試みましたが、建物のどこかがフレームアウト。要するにデカすぎ！ほぼ等身大と思われる親鸞さんの銅像が小人サイズに見えました。宗派に関係なく入ることができるらしいので、次回はコンニチワに挑戦予定。
